Not hearing/reading much.......of course it's not their high-priority list right now but something to keep an eye on. Keep in mind, MM was Alex Smith's first OC with the 49ers. I think Spotrac has his market value around $4-5M.

*Alex Smith
*Colt McCoy
*Garret Gilbert
*Cooper Rush
*RG III

With Andy Dalton gone, which way will Dallas Cowboys turn for backup QB?

Alex Smith has strong ties with MM, I think he is a realistic option.

Alex Smith for me......and draft a developmental guy

I've seen enough of Ben Side-Arm Dinucci (lol)

I'd personally prefer McCoy and DiNucci.

I think the team will go with Gilbert/DiNucci.

Give me Garrett Gilbert all day. I want a QB who can push the ball down field and maximize the weapons. Pocket presence, coverage/blitz recognition, can escape, run on read option calls, bootlegs and throws well on the run. Plus, he already has been on the team. 2 year $4.5M contract.

Smith - check down QB, waste of weapons.
Colt - similar to Smith just not as good.
Rush - as a QB3/PS only...better to draft QB3.
RGIII - rather start Cedrick Wilson at QB.
Flacco - washed, lack of mobility n accuracy.
Mariota - soild option.

I'd like to draft Elinger from Texas and use him like a Taylor Hill. Keep Gilbert or sign Colt as primary starter.

I like Ehlinger, ....he is a hard nosed tough SOB who is a gutsy QB. Some compare him to Tebow, but he throws better than him. Great leader. He may not turn out to be an All Pro, but he will have a nice lucrative career as a reliable backup like Colt McCoy. Can also run the RPO. I would not be mad if Dallas takes him in the later rounds.

But i would keep Gilbert around.

Roll with Gilbert
For the cost it's worth it.

Anyone of the first 3 in that order.
