Let's talk about Diggs future contract

Even if I get in the mood, I would very much attempt to not give them the top contract. Pay them fairly but not over board on dollars, guarantees, etc.. Try not to be completely powerless from that point forward.
Seeing the Bengals sign a zero time All Pro to the biggest CB contract in NFL history scares me.

Because if a zero time All Pro is getting paid that then what is Diggs gonna want?

Agreed. Just saying as GM I would let a player walk if we aren't close to agreeing on his value.

Nobody wants to lose a good player but it's better than getting locked into a bad contract.

You guys have to get this "trade for picks" stuff out of your head. Its not happening lol

When was the last time they traded anyone for more than a 4th round pick. I dont even know. Wouldn't shock me if it was Steve Walsh 30 years ago
It's the right approach, or at least to be open minded about it, but I TRULY believe the following....

They are not at all willing to wheel and deal because that increases the chances of them being exposed for what they really are.

Theres also never a 2-3 year plan that allows things like that to happen. It's always 'this is our year' so we need the whole band together.

Not only do they sell it that way, but I think they fully believe it. As a fan I know I do, but the organization shouldn't be run on hope, and it most definitely IS.

I don't want to re-sign him.

I'm never paying crazy money for a cornerback.

Now if he can keep picking off 10 passes a year that's different but that's not going to happen.
Lol so you can complain about coverage the year he's gone??? Lol can't just replace a CB like you van a rb or wr
