We just saw ZERO TIME, yes, ZERO TIME All Pro Denzel Ward sign the biggest CB contract in NFL history.

What does this mean for Diggs? He's going to surely expect more. Do you buckle? Do we wait and see? Do we try and sign him early? Does he have more to prove?

Personally, I believe that he has more to prove. He's not going to get 10+ INTs every year. What happens when he only gets 4 INTs? How does his coverage ability affect the defense overall when turnovers aren't happening? Does the threat of him being a ball hawk type of CB make up for yards that he will give up?

Him and CeeDee are in the same boat for me. A lot of potential and have been good, but I'm not completely sold on them enough to sign them to huge contracts. I'm more sold on Diggs than I am CeeDee though, but if CeeDee can show that he can be a #1 receiver this upcoming season that might change.

They cant sign him until next year anyways

I would entertain an early extension after this season. If he has another productive season and you're sure you want him long term, the earlier you extend him the better. If he has a down season, I would let the rookie contract rise and decide on entertaining the 5th year option.

Wait until you see how much money CeeDee will command after next season and Parsons will want to paid as the highest paid defender in two seasons. The NFL about to get a boatload of money with direct television contract going to Apple TV.

Parsons is worth it.

CeeDee and Diggs have more to prove as far as I'm concerned.

Let's see how CeeDee does as the #1 without Cooper taking all the attention away. Let's see how Diggs does when he's not getting INTs, because the INT numbers covered up a lot of bad numbers for him.

I'm in "wait, see, and prove it" mode with CeeDee and Diggs.

I am waiting for all the fans that will flip flop on them, as well as others. Once they get paid, they will be bums, get rid of the contract type stuff.

This is why you should only give big "market value" contracts to guys that have "market value" skills.

You don't pay a guy market value just because it's his turn to get a contract. You let someone else assume that risk if they chose.

If you pay mansion prices for a camper it doesn't all of a sudden turn that camper into a mansion.

You only pay mansion prices for mansions.

CeeDee is legit. Youve been drinking all night.

I will let the coaches decide on Diggs. He seems to have a knack for finding the ball mid air which is helpful...but I dont know about how well he executes his assignments and what not.

If Diggs is so good...wouldnt getting a proven safety that Diggs can trust help the Cowboys out? When Diggs has the green light to take risks he would know there is reliable reinforcement behind him. Maybe Diggs is just a good ballhawk...if thats the case...get a safety that will back him up. If he is good all around than I think you extend him asap.

Regardless I would try and get him a stud safety asap.

If he can get half the interceptions from last year, he'll be fine. As stated before, fans have to make up their mind, what/who they want......Diggs ( all interceptions giving a lot of yards ) or Byron Jones ( no interceptions giving up min yards).

Can't disagree at all.

That has been one of Jerry's downfalls for years. He overpays for less talent, but don't want to pay for top talent (this is more like Stephen in FA though). Though there are a few exceptions. Very few.
As to you analogy on mansions. He could never be in the house flipping business. :muttley:

I need to see better coverage skills.
Don't get me wrong, I love the INTs, but they are just part of his responsibility

No need to argue all day about if the Cowboys have a good enough offense...or complicate the argument by talking about the offense in the playoffs blah blah blah...

But I think I take Diggs interceptions when you have a respectable offense that can turn that interception into points.

You may not get that.......he's a ballhawk. In other words, he'll get you some picks but giving up yards is part of the territory. Kinda like a QB gunslinger........interceptions are part of a bunch of yards, TDs, and wins.

Well, I would give him a good and not great contract then.
Great contracts are for shut down corners.
