I am of the opinion that it probably doesn't pay to PAY a receiver who would be considered top 5. If the Cowboys had the chance to sign AJ Green, Julio, Antonio Bryant or whoever you think is top 5 the percentage of the cap is just too great with too much risk.

Receivers seem to be found anywhere in the draft. Wouldn't it be better to keep the OL and DT intact, pay a stud RB (or use a high pick on one) and your QB and draft a receiver in the 2nd-5th round pretty much every year and rotate them out?

Hurns was a 1000 yard receiver and we obtained himfairky cheaply. Wouldn't this be better for out cap and better for the team as a whole?

It is about eleventy billion times better (all numbers approximate) to pay a top 5 WR than it is to pay a top 5 RB.

I'd rather be paying Antonio Brown 4 years $68MM than Todd Gurley 4 years $60MM and it isn't remotely close.

And per usual you have it wrong. It's much easier to draft a mid round RB and find elite production year in and year out than it is to draft a mid round WR and find elite production year in and year out.

How do you get the basics wrong so frequently?

Glad to see you. Come over here and let me pet your little head and scratch you around your shaggy little ears. Lol

You just love making up things and changing the slant of a thread. Maybe that's what makes you so endearing to me. Sort of like your kid brother that's always following you around wishing you could be like me. Lol.

Would you rather be paying Antonio Brown or Todd Gurley essentially the same money?

Do you believe it's easier to find elite RB or elite wr production in the mid rounds of the NFL draft?

How about you discuss your thread?

I would probably take Todd Gurley.

They aren't making the same money and Gurleys contract is the most recent.

Would rather pay a #1 RB. Even with the injury risk. Receivers by and large are a dime a dozen

This is antiquated logic that NFL teams don’t even follow anymore. Look at the last draft: 3 RBs were taken in the first and only 2 WRs, which is crazy considering teams only need one RB and multiple WRs.

Seems like WRs have about 5-6 plays/game that even get noticed. The elite guys turn them into impact plays & can come up with them whenever it's needed. That's what makes them special.

The better RBs keep you in 3rd & short throughout the game.

I like what the Cowboys are doing, as I think bargain bin WR's are the way to go. At least this group is young, fresh, and impressionable. Lal can coach these guys. The Jones boys got burned last time they went after a productive WR (Roy Williams) and I think it was a valuable lesson learned.

While the talent in the WR room is by no means turning heads, it's certainly going to make Dak's life easier having guys with speed that can actually grasp the concept of precise route running and will, furthermore, allow him to spread the ball around the field. I'm more comfortable with paying Zeke and constantly looking for talent for WR in the draft. The main reason for that is simply, well - this team is built to run the football.

Well I've been thinking, with our team at least, Receivers don't seem to last like people say Running Back's are short lived. I mean Terry Glenn was great, but got injured too soon. Imagine that 2007 Cowboys Team if it had both T.O and Glen. Miles was a great receiver, even better than Dez in my opinion, but he kept getting ham string injuries. Then Dez got injured as soon as we payed him. I mean we could bring in a receiver, with a huge contract, but how long would he last?

Antonio Brown was a 6th round pick. 5 of the top 10 RBs last year were 1st rounders. Only 3 of the top 10 WRs were 1st rounders.
