Let's Talk About the Eagles

I know the discussion should be about Detroit, but since we are on the outside looking in anyway, I'd like to get some thoughts on how the Cowboys can match up with the Eagles.

Last season, obviously a different quarterback was under center, however I believe the defense can still gameplan the same way with Vick at QB. I believe the offense is pretty much the same as last year as well.

Which brings me to this. I want the Cowboys to sweep this team. I want the Cowboys to dominate this team. I want the Cowboys to ruin their season. The Eagles are a top flight football team right now. All cylinders are firing. Michael Vick is playing not only the best football of his career but quite possibly the best in the NFL.

I realize that the Skins game was an aberration. That will not happen for Philly each and every week, however it does show what that team is capable of if given the slack and lack of respect from the Skins defense.

It's time...it's time to calm down Philly fan.

:starspin

They've got four of the fastest guys in the league on offense. And as much as I dislike Andy Reid and his parenting, he's got a great offensive mind. Their defense can be exploited though, and their inability to run the ball will slow them down when in Dec/Jan.

We will have our hands full with Philly. It will be hard to stop Vick.

I know you said to look past this, but I just hope we can beat Detroit and get all the way to 3-7.

If we get by Detroit, and then put up a fight at home against NO on Thanksgiving, we'll have enough going for us that I could seriously consider how we'd matchup to a good team like Philly. We've done so much wrong, in so many areas this year, that I don't think we can realistically say we've got a shot against them until we demonstrate that we can play mistake-free football as well as some semblance of effective pass defense on a regular basis.

The key to beating the Eagles has always been getting to the QB. If they dictate what happens when they have the ball, they win.

Eagles don't have the best defense in the world, but it creates a lot of pressure and a lot of turnovers.

We beat him before. He is not better than when he was younger.

It was just a few weeks ago that he was CRUSHED and out of the game for weeks.

Monday was an anomaly. Watch their next game be a 10-7 loss

what i want to know is where are all these Kolbs is going to be the future people? I heard how good Kolb was going to be and how the eagles drafted a good Qb and hes not going to be the starter on his own team.

This is why the game is played and this is why players have to perform. There are no garuantees and our opinions are shattered almost every day.

Haha, wait, what?

He's not better than he was before? Not only is he better, he's got way better receivers now.

What does being injured in a freak tackle have to do with how well he was playing? Almost any QB would've been out for a while after that hit. He was sandwiched between two dudes flying full force at him. That'd be like me saying Romo is fragile for breaking his collarbone after being drilled into the ground. Everyone knows that's not the case, it was just the way he was hit.

If we cant create pressure without selling out to blitz, it's going to be difficult to contain their offense.

Exactly. That's certainly possible. It's not like DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer are slouches. Jason Peters has been playing extremely well lately though, and has done well in the past against Ware. It's just going to come down to whoever can force the other team to make the most mistakes.

I wouldn't count on that. I know the Eagles can be beat. And the other day was just a perfect storm. But don't think the Eagles aren't one of the teams to beat in the NFC.

Talking good about the Eagles gives me a bad taste in my mouth.

Their team is garbage and I hope the Cowboys come out and lay a smackdown on them.

I will be going to my first football game ever in Philly this year. I hope to be one of many Cowboys fans left in the stadium by the time th game is over because all the other fans got disgusted and left.

This is all foolish drivel

i like foolish drivel, you cant define it and the conversation doesnt hing on one stat or topic. it can go anywhere.

Peters always gets help from the TE or a back with ware. So this is a game where Spencer needs to step up and the Rat needs to get some pressure up the middle. And they better have McCann or someone quick and fast to keep an eye on Vick if he tries to run.

If you want to know if we can beat the eagles the answer is pretty simple. YES.

Here is he Eagles games so far this year.

GB 27 @ PHI 20
PHI 35 @ DET 32
PHI 28 @ JAC 3
WAS 17 @ PHI 12
PHI 27 @ SF 24
ATL 17 @ PHI 31
PHI 19 @ TEN 37
IND 24 @ PHI 26
PHI 59 @ WAS 28

The bold games above are games they either lost or almost lost. The Lions had the ball and were driving on the last possession on the game. Thats without Stafford.
The Commanders beat them in Philly.
The colts on the road almost beat them.
The Titans crushed them.
The only beat the Niners when Alex Smith fumbled in the 4th quarter and the Eagles returned it 50 yards for a TD.

So can we beat the Eagles??? If the Lions, Skins, Niners, Titans either did or could have then the simple answer is YES.

thats not true....with age and being under the thumb of Andy Reid he has developed the two areas hes always lacked .. accuracy and patience......combines with his pure speed and arm strength and he may be the most dangerous weapon in the NFL right now....

i think the key to beating them is pretty much the same as it has been with Mcpuke ....keep Vick contained and beat up their runt WRs

Agreed.

Couple that with it was payback for McNabb beating them in Philly

As an Iggle fan, you know this well.

He is just McNabb V2.

Just when you expect him to do something he will let them down... ala McNabb.

Watch..
