Let's talk about Trey Hendrickson

He isn't going to sign some low prove it deal. He is 31, and wants as much as possible probably before his career is over. Prior to last season he has back to back 17+ sack years. He will get a good check.
One can dream! But yeah, somebody is going to pay him a hefty contract for sure.

I agree Hendrickson is risky, not just due to age and health but his game is also limited and not suited to our new defense.

Hes pretty much 100% speed and bend edge rusher. Thats all you get with him.

And, no way Baine is there at 12. He’s the #3 overall on the consensus top 100 Big Board
Well, Bailey might fall to us at 12. I’m also sure that Malachi Lawrence will be there at 20. Heck, we might still get him by trading down from 20 and picking up a third-round pick.

It’s too bad we don’t have a second- or third-round pick, because I think Casius Howell or Mason Thomas would be available in those later rounds.

As for not getting a legit top DE with our picks, both Hendrickson and Crosby were third-round picks. So anything is possible.

I am all for Hendrickson. He will be a great fit in 3-4 next to Quinnen. Stout interior with pass rush is a major recipe for success at highest level. He actually fits the system better than Crosby despite not being as talented, IMO.
Yes, I agree. His playing style fits better than Crosby’s. We can move him around, just as Cincinnati did in 2024, when he recorded 17.5 sacks. He will be expensive, but not as much as Crosby, and we won’t need to give up draft capital to get him.

I don’t see a good fit with Hendrickson.
1, We don’t know if he can play on his feet as an OLB.
2. He is awful vs the run.
3. He is older, injury risk, and only 10 sacks last year.
4. If he isn’t comfortable on his feet, it’s hard to give different looks if he can’t drop off in coverage a bit.

If the Cowboys want him, they will sign him, and that will mean the staff has a plan for him. In that case, I’ll celebrate, but I find it hard to believe they want a pass rusher who can’t play the run and is 31 to be their highest paid defender.

Hendrickson has played about half his snaps as an OLB the last few years. Nothing really new for him.

I have similar thoughts..

Too old.. injury risk.. too much money.. rubbish against the run.

I would rather a couple of younger guys.

31 years old, constantly hurt, coming off of a core injury, and he will be expensive along with him wanting multiple years on a deal. No thanks. Id rather they sign Clowney if that's the case. Save the money for next off season when the free agent class is actually loaded.

Are you considering every down he didn’t have his hand down as him being a LB?

The games I saw, they always had a LB behind him even when he was standing up.

He’s only had 17 pass defenses in his entire Bengals career.

screw it. trade for Maxx and sign Trey. Go all in!

Signing him will be expensive but I'm sure there's a way we since he's a FA we can lower his cap hit for the first year. On the other hand it WON'T cost us any draft picks, which we can use to add more pieces to this Cowboys 2026 puzzle. Yes he's a bit older, but he's still a TOP pass rusher, please give your thoughts on this
Simple answer. No thank you. Now will Jerry muck it up? Maybe. But way too many holes. I was thinking Christian Parker will find talent and players that want to play for him and from there we clear cap room and get more talent in. But I hope no super expensive players

Look for an announcement on Monday .......... Hendrickson will be a Cowboy

We can make a fat signing bonus and effectively lower that big CAP hit this year.

But managing the CAP is tough with Dak hogging resources.

Seattle just won the sB and has 75 mil in CAP to party with this offseason.

You are not going to want him on the books after 2027

I think he is an excellent short term solution, even if he is expensive. But they need to develop a high level talent to replace him

You dont pass on Bain at 12 just because you signed Hendrickson
I don’t think Bain falling that far.

And I think him playing with two really good DTs will only help….question is, is he healthy enough. Several great DEs played at pro bowl levels into 30s, and Treys first 3 years had minimal wear as he wasn’t starter….so maybe he would still be good for 2-3 years?
