Well guys time to come off the happy high we been on and talk about our next game.

So what does the injury report look like for the skins?

They will have Portis this time around which will make the game more interesting for sure. They will probably use him with screens since our run D is playing pretty well right now.

I think they have Springs back as well right? That should make things better for them but it is going to be hard for them to stop what we saw in Carolina with the offense.

Skins DL did not get to Bledsoe and I doubt they get to Romo.

So what you think?

I know Gibbs plays games with the status of players but
I heard on SIRIUS that both WRs (Moss and Randle El)were listed on the report with sore hamstrings as well.

Personally, I'm scared to death of this game. They say when it comes to rivalries that you can throw the records out the window, and that's been especially true in the Cowboys/Commanders history. Plus, the Commanders are at home , coming off a bye and are a cornered, wounded animal with their season on the line. Need I remind anyone of what happened last time we went to FedEx with big stakes on the line?

Carlos Rogers and Shawn Springs might be on the field at the same time for the first time this season, which means Gregg Williams might have his whole arsenal of blitz packages available to throw at a quarterback making his second career start. Portis and Cooley are bad mismatches against our slow linebackers in pass coverage. This Cowboys team has been fed a lot of cheese this week, and they haven't shown anything resembling consistency this year. It would be typical of this team to lay an egg this weekend.

Good post and I totally agree. We are playing a team that is going to have a lot more of their starting players than they did the first time.

When it comes to Skins Boys you have no freaking clue what will happen :)

This may be the first game that the Skins defense is 100%. We get Springs, Griffin, Salave'a, Rogers, and Lemar Marshall all on the field at the same time for the first time all year.

If anything at least you guys will get our best effort on defense. That's about all I can ask for since now we are banged up on offense. Brunell is gonna be hopped up on pain killers and wearing a flak jacket. Meanwhile Moss might not even play.

Should be a good game, but if our best effort on defense is what we've seen thus far this season then it'll be blowout city.

Without Moss I think Zimmer would bring Roy up in to the box alot more than normal and that will help us control Portis, the one reliable threat the skins have shown this season. Brunell has shown no ability or inclination to throw deep this year.

They may have all thier defensive starters but this team is not the same team that won 6 in a row and murdered the boys in FedEX.

The Commanders are confused and have no where to hide their holes. Last season we had a stiffer Bledsoe and a beat up line that gave up a ton of sacks. A limp running game and no confidence.

As far as injuries...Moss and Portis will definitely not play. Portis will never admit to being hurt but a high ankle sprain does not heel in two weeks. No matter how much you treat it! Moss has had hamstring problems in the past and knows that he cant rush it back. ( maybe he can borrow T.O.s chamber)

I see a blowout that may cost Gibbs his post like when the Commanders beat a wounded Campos team that triggered the Parcell's Era.

We should win this game...but Gibbs and Co. will pull out all the stops. No slows starts please and put them away early.

I agree with this. The saving grace IMO is that Romo doesn't seem to eat cheese. If Romo was a cheese eater, then I would be more concerned.

The defense has no reason to have any cheese heaped their way. They got lucky a couple of times on Sunday night when the Panthers wideouts dropped key passes.

The thing I saw last Sunday that impressed me is that this team has a killer instinct. I did not expect Dallas to score that last TD, and most of our former teams would not have scored. We put the dagger in the heart of the Panthers with that TD. The killer instinct has been missing from this team for quite some time. It is a 60 minute football game.

That loss against the Commanders in the final week of 2002 did not trigger the Parcells era. NEITHER team was trying to win that game, as a better draft position was on the line for the loser. The trigger for a coaching change was likely pulled in week 1 when we lost to the Texans in 2002.

What source do u have that Moss and Portis are out? Portis is dinged but I'm skeptical that he'd miss both games against Dallas being he was upset about being held out in the first game.

He doesn't have solid info...it's too early in the week. But Portis has a high ankle sprain and those typically are both very limiting and do not heal quickly.

You said it.

I hate games where all signs point to us coming away with an "easy" win.

Romo hasn't faced the types of blitzes that Williams will throw his way. Gregg Williams' defenses usually eat first year QBs for breakfast (Romo is essentially a first year QB).

And you're exactly right about throwing the records out the window. I remember the Skins beating us in 1995...twice, IIRC....

Gibbs will pull out all the stops. I think we'll see corner blitzes, flea-flickers, reverses, maybe even a fake FG or punt. We must be prepared to take the crowd out of the game. A good, time-consuming drive down the field to start the game will be perfect.

Unfortunately, we've started slow all season.

We can't afford to have a start like we had against the Texans.

It is imperative that the Cowboys lay a beat down on the skins this week.
Accept nothing less.
