What is his role in this offense? He’s not a FB, he never gets carries, we rarely throw to him. Case in point, on the goal line he completely wiffed a backside block on Rees and allowed Rees to fly over the top of him and get to JW.

The giants showed how to use a FB. I just don’t see what value he is bringing.

I think the criticism of Luepke is fair, but I'd argue the bigger question is how Schottenheimer is using him.

He's not really a traditional "give him the ball 10 times" fullback. His value is supposed to come from creating advantages as a blocker, protecting Dak, and giving the offense some versatility out of heavier personnel. He's had some carries and catches, so it's not like he's completely uninvolved.

But if you're going to keep a fullback on the field primarily as a blocker, then he has to consistently win those blocking assignments. That goal-line play was ugly, and when you watch the Giants use Patrick Ricard, you can see what a real FB can add to an offense.

So I don't think the answer is necessarily "Luepke is useless." It's more: What exactly is Dallas getting from having him on the field, and are they getting enough of it to justify the roster spot and snaps?

That's a fair question after Week 1.

We need him to play special teams so we can continue to be one of the worst in the league.

Take Schoonmaker too

Keep purging until the excrement is past the o-ring
CZ wanted to purge DLaw and Osa Odighizuwa.

Maybe the opinions of most CZ members is not always accurate.

DLaw started for the Super Bowl winner.

Odighizuwa and the 49ers defense shut down the vaunted Rams offense this week.

Mascot.

Ferguson came aboard so they let Schultz go . Maybe that wasn’t the best decision. Schultz can actually go downfield help the QB .

A waste of space and a waste of money resigning him. Dude does basically nothing every game. We could get a UDFA FB or turned Mafah into a FB and do whatever Luepke is doing now. Heck even one of the TE's we let go. He must be a heck of a special teamer.

Maybe in another offense he would be a good/decent player. They don't give him carries at RB. He doesn't really blow anyone off the ball at FB. Kind of a waste to me.

Giants have Ricard and the 49ers have Jusczyck. Both real fullbacks. We have a converted RB who doesn’t block well.

Patrick Ricard was an eye opener. He was leveling Cowboys at the point of attack.

I know FBs have become passe in the modern game, because you can use an extra WR to remove a defender from the box, instead of having to block that defender in the box. But when you have a FB who can literally throw that defender on his ***, I feel like that equation changes again. Luepke's not that kind of guy.
