Mack Brown has informed the team and recruits of his resignation. He will coach the bowl game.

Is it double confirmed, because the news is all over the place with different things.

Props to UT fans... Has to be exciting. Who do you guys want now that Saban is off the market?

I hope they hire jason garrett in in a month.

Then I will have another reason to not like garrett.

Saban was never going to happen so I'm not disappointed about that, I just hope Mack has nothing to do with the choice to replace him.

Mike Leach just donned his eye-patch. Affixed a stuffed parrot to his puffy-shirt. And is sitting quietly next to the phone in his office.

If Shaw doesn't want the Texans job he could be an option.

Or the Auburn head guy.

Those 2 would be my first calls.

Sadly for their fans, after all the Saban hype going to pot, any actual hire will seem like an after thought and probably be perceived as one.

I would like Shaw but I would be very happy with either John Harbough or Mike Tomlin but I have my doubts about either of those guys. Would be nice though.

Just like my argument about Saban not coming to Texas (which was "it's not about the money with Saban"), it's not about the money for Shaw. He graduated from Stanford, was a football, basketball, and track athlete there, and is at his dream job. He might want a crack at an NFL head coaching position, but he's not going to be enticed to come to UT simply because they can throw more dollars at him than Stanford can.

I'm pretty sure from all I have been reading that it is accurate that the Texans are interested.

I figure they would want someone in place long before the dead period ends and the NFL guys are just pipe dreams anyway so it's bound to be a college head coach.

I know several college head coach's agents are celebrating this opening right about now.

Might I recommend Kevin Steele, after all he's on staff recruiting for Saban right now;).

Smart is a guy I would not mind from that Staff but IDK. About now, Baylor is probably feeling pretty good. You have a good coach wrapped up and no worries.

Congrats to you Green Bears Aikbach.

Gracias, I am honestly a little disappointed Saban isn't comng. I would've enjoyed the hype for the Big 12 and the Briles vs. Saban matchups.
