I'm pretty sure I'll be blasted for giving my two cents, but each year when it comes time fir Dallas to play the Eagles, here comes the science-fiction story to garner sympathy for the lone Cowboy's fan and to make a monster out of the Eagles fan by exploiting the stigma.
Alright let's say the bar scenario is true, here's what I read ...
This paints the picture of the die-hard fan (could be any fan; just happens to be Dallas which many of you will automatically relate to. So far it's all good!
At this point, the story-teller introduces alcoholic Beverages and fans wearing rival team attire (that just happens to be Eagles/Phillies attire); while Atlanta ...no Falcon attire mentioned ...hmmm. But that;s the way it is.
Good guy - bad guy. This was obviously an environment of people who may/may not have been influenced by alcohol or encouraged by a wager between friends, etc
You smiled? Listen, I don't care what franchise affiliation you belong to, under the circumstances that you purport, this isn't football, this is you being bullied, insulted and battered - enter the authorities or the bouncer or other concerned friends of yours (what happened to your friends?) You guys haven't even started drinking ...level heads prevail!
Perhaps your smiling was one of the wisest things to do when confronted by a billigerent "drunk."
You YOU ...not your friends webt to jail because of a billigerent drunk that you should have walked away from ...but you stood in there like a noble fan defending your team ...please, this is just too unreal! But ok let's finish this scenario out ...
Out of this whole mess, you are not interested in getting compensated from this guy and there were no witnesses (e.g., your friends, bystanders unaffiliated with football, etc). Ok, but how does "I Love my Team" come into all of this. I'll bet that there are Cowboy and other team fans that would have handled this whole situation completely differently.
By the way you said you spent ten (10) days in jail ...for what (fighting?)
Look, the Eagle fans already have a terrible record - I even know that! This little scenario only makes you look like the big-time fan to your franchise fans, while doing absolutely nothing to taint an already targeted Eagles fan base.
What's the point. There are a hundred of corrected via edit sotries) stories in this city ...this was just one of them (Quote from Dragnet ...the TV series)
Good luck on Sunday, Cowboy fans ...just not as much luck as for the Eagles!
PT ...BTW ...I don't drink!
