Linebacker is clearly the #1 priority in the draft

OL is #1 just try to remember what NY DL did to us. Every team in the East has upgraded their DL/LB. They all know Bledsoe is a statue and will blitz the crap out of us. Without an OL, we got nothing....no ball control, no TO...no playoffs and no SB.

yeah, we got Fabini...so what? what the new G's name? enough said. Recovering Flo......Ouch! Henson/Romo may get their chances to play next yr.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you're a glass half empty person.

LB isn't the biggest need. It's just one of the top 5 questions on the team right now:

OLB - Burnett/Singleton?
FS - Davis/Coleman?
RT - Fabini/Petitti?
G-Kosier/Peterman?
NT-Ferguson/Johnson?

Each of those 5 positions could all be immensely upgraded in the draft with picks #1-#3.
Burnett and Kosier have the best chances of panning out leaving FS,T,and NT as the areas of most need.

I believe an inside pass rush is our biggest need on defense with a corner next. We can fill in the FS in free agency if needed and get a pass rushing lb on day 2. I would trade out of round one in exchange for a 2nd and 5th and use the 2 two's on Jonathan Lewis, pass rushing DT out of Va. Tech and Richard Marshall, CB. Use our 3rd on Greg Jennings out of Western Mich.

Fifita's bio:

Last name is pronounced "fee-feeta"

You say 'fee-feeta' I say 'fah-fahta'.

You think anyone calls him FiFi?

It's a natural that the Saints draft him, teaming Steve Fifita and Scott Fujita.

I think you overrate Marcus Coleman. I don't know that the Boys intend for him to be the starter either. While I agree that LB is a bigger need than OT, I could see drafting a tackle who could start at RT this year and eventually move to the left. Which would make Fabini and Petiti the backups, which would be good depth but not a serious misuse of cap space. Guard imo is not a big need this year. You're going to give Kosier at least a year and you're not benching Rivera. So either draft a backup on the second day or wait til next year.

there are only 2 OT's that COULD start this year and they will both be gone by our pick- not even close. So that is not going to happen. Before his injury last year the Hotel had played something like 70-80 games straight. He is not yet 32; so he has several years left and is NOT INJURY PRONE. Fabini was a good tackle that prior to his injury last year started 89 straight games. ALSO not injury prone. SO therefore unless Justice slips to real close to us we do not pick OT.
OG: we have 3 on the roster (Gurode is slated to compete/backup center)
Rivera only has a couple of years left so we need his replacement on the roster SOON. Peterman- unknown if he is good enough. Kosier is solid but that is all. By need and common sense a guard is a good shot for this year.
there are no first rd guards- Gilles and Joseph are the best and they are early 2nd rd. WR- there are no studs really this year and BP hates taking skill players in the first. Besides anyone we pick will be a backup and BP hates picking backups in the first. NT: only maybe 2- really one- Ngata and he will not slip to us, Watson is a fat lazy slob and that is that. I am totally on the Fifita band wagon- if you wanted to design a better NT for us you could not do better then Fifita- and he can be had at the earliest in the 4th.
FS: only one first rd guy who will be gone. Coleman and Davis give us breathing room.
THAT leaves OLB. Remember BP talking about maybe moving Burnett inside last year? Singleton is a good guy but not the one you want starting.
Carpenter, Greenway, Wimbley, Lawson are the guys we are probably looking at. One of them at least will be there for us- and if 3 are we will trade down. How far is another story- I think only far enough to get back that 4th and maybe another 3rd.

I think you have it pretty well nailed for the 1st round, but if either of the OT's, Ngata, Huff, Hawk, Williams, Davis or any of the top 3 QB's fall, I think they take him without question (BPA).

If none of them fall, then I think you are correct in your assessment of what they should be doing.

I would love the Jimmy special 22 inch headlines but this will suffice.

VOR, can I be your friend?? Finally see some sense.

By the way- Davis STINKS at blocking so there is no way BP wants a TE that cannot block. ALL flash and no substance would be how he would put it. Another Shockley type. Williams is not on the radar either. Nagata, Justice, Huff, Hawk- only if they come within 3 or so spots of us. AND then everyone will be calling and offering a lot so I just do not see it.

Peterman is a huge ? because we have not seen him play. Supposedly BP likes him- BUT is that enough to pass on getting a guard this year- when you know you will need at least 1-2 years to get him ready?

He does not STINK. He is OK, not dominant, but decent. And he showed continual improvement in that area at Maryland.

Hmm.

Wrong.

OLB.

We addressed the Oline in the offseason.

I am just realistic unlike most fans who are blinded by the prospect of a new season and a flashing LB who can get some sacks.

Keeping Bledsoe upright and giving JJ some creases would do wonders for our playoff chances. OL is not sexy but winning is.

LB's didn't lose as many games as our OL did last yr. It's that simple.

we need 3 young guards getting ready to have 2 starters and one good backup. I think that Kosier can be the backup since he can play 4 positions.
But the 2 starters? When Rivera is gone in a year or two even if Peterman steps up we need one more.

I can't think of many better reasons for passing on another guard than 'BP likes the one we've got.'

That comment is so ignorant, it tells me you know absolutely nothing about Vernon Davis.

I suggest doing a little research. You act like he is Jay Novacek out there, which he isn't.

Go watch the BC game where he dominated Mathias Kiwinuka and get back to me with this "STINKS at blocking" garbage.
