With Jaylon being released, what will the linebacking core look like next year? Cox is a promising rookie and pairing him with Parsons is very intriguing, but what happens with Neal and LVE? Both are on the last year of their contract. If Cox plays well I doubt both of them will be resigned. If you are the front office what would be your next move?

we are only 4 games into 2021....long way to go before 2022. not worried about that yet....off season, we can sign some. draft some. wait and see

I think (and have said so all year) that LVE will be gone as well, but I think Neal is signed to a manageable contract.

The Cowboys have drafted a LB (or multiple) in nearly every draft, so I'm certain that they will continue to do so.

It's early but as of now, it's not looking good for LVE returning. My thinking was/is he needs to have something close to an ALL-PRO year to get a long-term offer or tag from Stephen. Again, it's early but as of now, I see him walking and resigning Neal and using a top 3 or 4 pick to draft another one.

LVE is toast. Great question though otherwise. Personally I would love to see them draft another fast and mean linebacker in the 2nd or 3rd round. Kneal resigning at a reasonable price would be great also.

Dont even want the guy to be honest. If he has an all pro type year then the price will be too high anyway. I wouldnt want to make a commitment to a player like LVE.

He isnt fast enough and smart enough. Need fast, intelligent, linebacker that can drop back, rush the passer or fill the hole with speed. Give me another Norton type.

The season will play out and based on what the coaches see and how FA plays out will determine that. For me I'm only concerned with the LB in 2021

LVE better put down his cell phone and get real busy on the practice field figuring out how to elevate his game. I've always had his back when it comes to the backers on this team and if he thought Smith got a raw deal then he's not as smart as I thought he was. If it weren't for the fact that Smith was clueless on the playing field it then the backer walking out the door yesterday could of been LVE. Injuries have caused his game to slide big time that's way JJ decided to hold off on his option.

LVE maybe gone. He needs to be paid. Not sure what he will want.

Will see a lot of these young LBs this year to see if we even try to keep LVE.

I think they will retain a vet and then draft another.

The vet retained will not have a large deal in terms of term, SB or $. It'll be like an Jordan Lewis type extension.

So, let the honest offer bidding begin at some point between LVE and Neal.

I don't see either LVE or Neal actually getting paid big time by another team. At least at this time 4 games in.

LVEs claim to fame is his rookie year, 3+ years ago. The other 2.25 years have been average at best.

Parsons, Cox, Neal, and maybe draft one on day 2

Im resigning neal over LVE so its Parsons, Neal, Cox next year
LVE was special his rookie year, but not since then.

He has played a little better this year than last year but not to the point of paying him a large contract of any kind.

Some team will pay him and good for him and them, but it's past time for the Cowboys worry less about loyalty and more about putting the best players on the field they can.

I think Lve returns on an incentive, laden contract based on starts. They would like to resign Neal, but he might become out of their price range.

Based on the system Quinn runs, there is a diminishing 'need' for traditional LB's as he runs the nickel package a lot. That said,we know Parsons and Cox are on the roster in 2022 with LVE and Neal having expiring contracts after this season. LVE is more than likely gone with the possibility of Neal re-signing dependent on his desire to stay in Dallas with Quinn versus another team offering big money. Also, Bernard, Gifford, and Gregory (who has been playing some DE) are all free agents after this season.

Bottom line: Dallas has some work to do on replenishing the LB depth chart after Parsons and Cox.

LVE's career is likely over after this year. Few will come calling with that neck and certainly nobody is giving him a lot of money.
