I’m not going to be critical of Dan Campbell while we have 15 years plus of garbage head coaching.
i mean jason garett won a coach of the year. it's almost as if having loads of talent makes guys awesome. this guy was a babbling laughingstock talking about biting kneecaps and what not not too long ago.

I'm not completely out on Witten being a coach somewhere. I'm sure he has the skills and the knowledge.

I just don't want it to be here because of what he represents to the Country Club in place. Garrett 2.0.

I hope not. I really don't want to end up hating Jason Witten for being a terrible HC like I have with Garrett.

Jason Witten HC
Tony Romo OC
Sean Lee DC

Jerry's dream coaching staff.
Close, that's a start.

I definitely like those 3 being in the organization.

Witten, not necessarily as head coach.

Romo. GM, OC, head of player personnel.

The General, for sure, DC or any position he wants. Really like him as a player. Could teach current roster a thing or 2.

Somebody with the Manster's attitude.

Yeah.....or Nay? Comments? I can see this being the next great Jerry move.....
Yes. Let's get a guy with no NFL or even college coaching experience. If you wanna be an NFL coach, a good idea is to spend some time as an NFL assistant coach

I loved Witten as a player, but being a high school coach for a short time doesn’t prepare one for being a NFL HC. Dan Campbell was an NFL position coach an d coordinator.

Witten as a TE coach would be a good move.

Dan Campbell before his HC gig:

Jason Witten before the Cowboys anoint him HC
  • Coaching a private school in Texas high school division II

Looks the same to me.
But, but they both played TE and Witten as better!!!

Campbell is a culture guy. Normally those kind of hires don't work in the NFL, cause what kind of culture can you build with a team of multi-millionaire mercenaries, but he's done it. The Lions really are a team that just bites your kneecaps.

The thing is, that he was given a free hand to work in Detroit. Ownership doesn't intervene at all, and he has a GM who's on the same page and works as an extension of him. It's wild how the Lions literally just draft the best kneecap-biter available.

Jerry would never give up the level of personnel control to make that happen, and he is absolutely anathema to a culture of toughness like Campbell wants to build.

Wondering if Quincy Carter is available to be head coach?...won't make much difference as most of our money is invested in a QB that can't produce.

They still had one of the better offenses. Yes if they would have had a more innovative guy it could have been better but they were top 10, what they really lacked was a good DC. If that offense could have just gotten a little help could have made a world of difference.
Yes, because of the players they had they still had one of the better offenses, but what history tells us is that there are three ways to win Super Bowls: Have an elite offense, have an elite defense or have a balanced team (both in the upper half/top 10). I believe we had a few years where we had the components for an elite offense and Garrett's philosophy held us back. It was still good enough to make us a playoff team, but then we couldn't contend because we weren't innovative against the better defenses while their offenses beat up on our defenses.

If Garrett/the Cowboys had focused resources on the defense, we wouldn't have had that offense. And then when the Joneses forsook free agency, there was no way we were going to have both at the same time. I also think some of the DCs may have looked better here if they'd had better players to work with. I mean, most fans wanted Quinn ran out of town after last year's playoff performance, but there's only so much you can do when you are dealt a bad hand.
