Lions or Cowboys

The Cowboys will never feel the Lions pain. They have 5 championships while the Lions have never even been to a Super Bowl. The Lions two greatest players quit on them and the best QB they’ve had in their history was traded away and went on to win a Super Bowl with someone else. The Lions history sucks!

I hear you but there are entire generations of Cowboy fans who haven't experienced winning. Those championships may as well be fables to them.

There’s film of those championships and trophies the younger fans can look back on. There is no film or trophies for Lions fans.

Lions fans are feeling way worse IMO. When you're the #1 seed, and favored to go to the SB, it's crushing when you don't get there. The last time I had that feeling was in 2007. I liked the 2016 team, but I didn't think we were the best team in the NFC. Probably not even 2nd best.

The moments and day after the Lions were upset by the team from Washington ( which will always be called the Commanders),
what fan base is upset more?

Lions had a wonderful season, with the record number of wins in a regular season.
They captured the #1 seed only to get knocked out in the 1st rd as the Cowboys did in 2023.

Detroit fans had high hopes in a loooooooong time only to have them crushed.
Meanwhile, Dallas fans sees their former DC Dan Quinn turn an organization around, with a rookie QB, in one season
In addition, taking with him many former Cowboys players to Washington with him to get to their 1st NFC Conference game in 33 years

Cowboys were not even in the playoffs, but watching what Commanders did to the Lions and advancing was equally crushing as
last seasons home playoff embarrassment to the Packers.

What’s the point of your first paragraph?

The Lions got blown out at home on the big stage by a rookie QB.
Daniels isn’t an ordinary rookie QB. If Washington wins next week he’ll be the first rookie QB to lead a team to a SB.

I don't care. The Lions will be back. They have a solid team for many years to come. We don't.

The Lions are in a similar place to the "Next Year's Champions" Cowboys of the 60's and early 70's, who never could quite get there until they broke through in 1971. However, the salary cap makes these windows of success shorter. They have 1 to 2 more years to make it happen before they start losing players. They'll probably start losing coaches this year.

We Cowboy fans suffer a different kind of hurt. Some of us are old enough to remember greatness, others aren't. We're so frustrated with incompetent ownership and management that we've really just given up. We're tired of being sold on change every year, only to eat the same crap sandwich. We know championships are possible, but we are also pretty hopeless about our status in NFL life.

I was referring to Super Bowls. Doubt that video will enlighten Lions fans.
A super bowl is an NFL championship. Same thing. Just before they merged with the AFL. But I agree, going back to the 50s isn't going to make Lions fans feel any better. But there is some film.

The difference is Detroit was Super Bowl favorites. Their loss was more inline with the Cabo Cowboys loss to the Giants in 2008. I am still angry about that loss.
Good point.............Detroit was clearly the favorites in the NFC, just like the Cowboys were back in 2007 when we had like 13 probowl players, and then got whooped by the Giants.

Only conciliation prize is that those Giants went on to beat the Pats in the SB and deny them a perfect season...............I think that was the helmet catch SB.

The Pats would have probably steamed rolled us, I dont think we ever beat Randy Moss like ever in any game..............so if you hated the Pats, the Giants beating us was probably for the best.

I know man, but you know it's not the same.

My partner at work is 29 and his dad has season tickets. The poor ******* has only experienced disappointment.

These kids deserve better. My buddy became pretty cynical after the GB game and I have to give credit because he hung in there for a long time without results. Lol

Despite the Cowboys 30 year drought, they’ve still had it a lot better than Detroit.

My upset rank:
  1. Dallas
  2. Detroit
Divisional winners should always win in the wild card round. It should have been a 'sure win' for the Cowboys. Green Bay should have been dead on arrival (e.g. had no chance) playing on the road.

The Lions were the number one overall seed and played at home. Washington proved they had a chance of upsetting any regular season division winner by advancing to the divisional round.

Flashback to last year: Green Bay did not do to the 49ers on the road what Washington did to Detroit this postseason. 2024's Packers should not have advanced. They did.

Additionally, the playoff bracket expansion to seven teams per conference is very recent but past results are still notable. Sixth seeds have made it to their conference championship rounds and even the Super Bowl.

Although records are meant to be broken, a seventh seed should never advance. Green Bay disproved then re-affirmed that notion in back-to-back NFC postseason appearances as a seventh seed. Dallas should have made certain the Packers seventh seeded postseason streak should still be 0-2.
Agreed. Also, the entire Detroit defense was hurt by this game and during the game. That's not an exaggeration; I believe almost the entire Detroit starting defense was out by the end of their game. The offense scored over 30 and that should have been good enough even with Goff's turnovers. That's alot different than being the 2 seed and getting completely blown out at home by the 7 seed.

These kids deserve better.
Every kid deserves an owner who does not put himself before the team's on-the-field success. And let me also add before someone replies with the usual greed auto-comment that Jones would have made just as much money--or more--if he were not a decades old GM.

Lions and it's not close. Most Cowboys fans are numb to the pain and resigned to their fate. The Lions have an abysmal history in the modern era and when they finally are the clear cream of the crop in the NFC they blow it at home in their first playoff game against a wild card team with a rookie QB.
