Believe me, if it matters to us it matters to Detroit. Lose to us and the packers (packers are picking things up again) and they may get caught by Tampa. Other teams have injuries too, and when recovered, they may be a new different team in the playoffs. Detroit lost to Green Bay, so that makes things a bit harder on a tiebreaker for the division. Until there is an "x" next to their name in the standings, they are playing full throttle.

We need one win or a Giants loss/tie to win a first round bye.

A Boys loss makes our worst record possibly 12-4. A Boys win makes our worst record 13-3 and therefore clinches.

A Giants win makes them possibly 12-4 with a tie breaker over us head to head and division W/L record. They get home field if they win out and we lose out.

One win by us is all we need be it the Eagles or Lions. A loss or tie knocks Giants out of the HFA race and division crown.

We have a 98% chance of winning the #1 seed now. We have clinched the #5 or #6 seed already.

Correct, thanks for listing the scenarios.

I would also like to add that we are now locked in to either the #1 seed or the #5 seed...........we cannot get any other seeds.

Detroit can still get a bye (regardless of what anyone does on Saturday/Sunday)...no way they rest. Detroit may need to get that 6th wild card as well...no way they rest.

Since the Packers play the before the game might be meaningless. If the Packers win Detroit cannot gain anything by beating us. They will either be 9-6 or 10-5. Packers would be 9-6. Apparently a win against the Packers gives Detroit the tiebreaker and a loss gives Green Bay.

Umm they can win the wild card still. They have a better conference record than all the other teams fighting for the 6 spot plus a head to head win over washington.

Detroit does not have a scenario where the game is meaningless.

sorry, the article was in regards to Slay's status only, not resting starters

just perusing their message board and there are 2 threads dedicated to the possibility of resting guys
I knew what you meant. I believe Slay's injury as well Tate were reported as getting nicked up directly after the Giants game so I'd think there's something to it. Besides, I believe there are still playoff implications in the way of a home game at play for the Lions so the remaining two games would be important.

Okay stay with me here, since you are failing to grasp that we play AFTER the conclusion of all week 16 games, assume the following happens on Saturday/Sunday:

Just ran some playoff machine scenarios and you are correct. Lions look like they hold a tiebreaker over the Bucs assuming they finish with the same record, if Washington wins of course they are still in contention to take that last wild card if Detroit loses out, and even assuming Atlanta and Seattle win next week, would still go into week 17 vying for the #2 seed needing a win and Atlanta/Seattle losses.

I don't care what the Lions do, I expect Dallas to go into the game focused and do their jobs. Cowboys need to just continue to focus on what they need to do not what the opposing team is doing.

As the way things stand right now, it's going to look very likely that we'll be facing the Gnats again in the divisional round. Ready ???

NFC

  1. Dallas Cowboys (12-2)*
  2. Seattle Seahawks (9-4-1)**
  3. Atlanta Falcons (9-5)
  4. Detroit Lions (9-5)
  5. New York Giants (10-4)
  6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-6)

Probably referring to the player with the best performance of the Tampa game, DE David Irving.

The Vikings won't beat Green Bay and philly won't beat NY so this game will mean a lot to both teams. If we clean up penalties we should dominate. That being said, Stafford loves playing in Dallas.

There is a good chance that could happen, but there are so many scenarios that could play out before the playoffs even start. For one, you might as well put GB in as the #4 because they are rolling. If nyg have to go into Lambeau in January, there is a much better chance they won't make it out of the first round. Beating the giants would be sweet, but a 2nd round rematch with GB would be pretty sweet too. We owe them one.
