Listening to Philly Talk Radio all morning (Tales from the Dark Side)

Yeah, and I wonder whether anyone else we know is wishing the same thing?

I suspect the only reason Murray may not feel that way is the insane contract he extracted from them.

If he could keep that contract, flip a switch and return to Dallas right now, I'll bet he'd be reaching for it.

Bradford is going to get hammered by the fans and local media until he helps turn that mess around. He is probably wishing Philly never traded for him.

He's been coasting in football Siberia for the past 5 years. He's not built for the Philly. Sanchez actually is their best shot. He is mediocre but at least he has the thick skin dealing with the NY media/fans for a few years.

-"Who would you rather be right now, the Cowboys at 2-0, or the Eagles at 0-2?"
-"Oh definitely the Eagles."

-Ike Reese from the Mike and Ike Show

Also said they Cowboys have more problems than the Eagles and unlike the Cowboys, the Eagles still have hope.

Ike Reese just now on Philly radio: "Cowboys fans shouldn't be gloating. They may have 2 wins by November. We look bad but at least we don't have bad injuries."

Some fan rewrote the iggle fight song lyrics...

Original:
Fly Eagles fly, on the road to victory!
Fight Eagles fight... Score a touchdown 1, 2, 3!
Hit 'em low, hit 'em high, and watch our Eagles fly!
Fly Eagles fly on the road to victory!
E-A-G-L-E-S - Eagles!

New Version:
Cry Eagles cry on the road to mediocrity!
Cry Eagles cry... Score a touchdown 1,2,3?
Hit 'em high, hit'em low, but in the end they could not go!
Cry Eagles cry on the way to 0 and 16!
B-E-A-G-L-E-S - Beagles! - WOOF!!!

I'm pretty sure that's wishful thinking on his part. I think there's an outside chance we can win 10 games once we get our injured players back. Prospects for Philly to do the same surely don't look remotely possible for them. On top of that they DO have injuries to worry about, in addition to their inability to compete.

Despite our injuries we are still a better team, weeden is as good as Bradford, our o line is tons better even banged up, our wr are still better without dez, coaching staff isn't even a competition, defense is slightly better in Dallas right now, and that's down 2-3 starters who will be coming back. Eagles fans are delusional, they will be 0-3 next week and looking at interim head coaches

They'd be correct if Romo was the context of that statement.

WEEDEN...............Gawd...........

I think they really thought they had a decent chance at getting Mariota if they had Bradford and some picks to trade.

Bingo. Kelly thought Bradford was the better bargaining chip and he figured he would have no problem making a deal to get Mariota. He just simply doesn't understand the way high draft picks are valued in the NFL. He thinks he is smarter than everyone and he can get anything done that he wants. He grossly miscalculated and is stuck with Bradford and Sanchez.

Good stuff. Reading about Murray not being a fit is absolutely wrong. Chip's scheme calls for a north south RB who slashes and takes the 3-5 yards when there. That's why they traded Shady and went for Murray. So this whole idea that Kelly's style is east west is false......However it doesn't matter which style if you don't have a line especially the interior. Kelly took a huge gamble letting Mathis and Herremens go and going with youth and so far it's a complete disaster.

He is probably glad, and is telling his agent...stay away from the negotiating table...

I think he is kicking himself for walking away from the negotiating table this summer when the Eagles wanted to extend him. That was his best opportunity to getting a big contract. He gambled on himself and said he wanted to play out his current contract and it appears he will lose this bet. If he continues to perform as he has these past two weeks, the best he will get is a backup QB contract. Had he negotiated the contract extension, at least he could have walked away with the guaranteed money once he was released and still signed the backup contract.

We can win more than two games if the Defense keeps playing well and if Weeden can manage games and not turnover the ball too much. I would be more concerned if my team had their healthy starters and still struggled. But with the Cowboys missing Romo and Dez they have more of an excuse to lose (hopefully they won't). It's more discouraging when a team struggles with what's suppose to be their best starters.

I have WIP on as well. Stupid The Fanatic is now a login to listen, but I can't sign up.

Oh well. I love when they suffer.

A downhill runner is what his system may require but he's stubbornly trying to attack the ends laterally instead, in an attempt to wear opposing defenses down. He's far from being the genius he's been reputed to be. Your right about that anemic interior of his OL. They won't allow a downhill runner to run downhill if their life depends on it.

Bradford has a big ol' bag of nothing and has never been a good player. This idea that he was better than Foles is ridiculous. Hell, Sanchez is better than Bradford, IMO.

Bradford will remain the starter simply so that Chip will not have to admit that he traded his starter (Foles) away for another backup (Bradford).

Have to admit, with Weeden in the game and Dallas up 13-3 with 4 minutes left, I'm sure the last thing the Eagles thought was that we'd throw the ball on a slightly more aggressive route.
Very, very easy pitch and catch touchdown.
It showed Linehan had confidence in Weeden right there...but they knew the Eagles wouldn't at all be expecting that play.

Reminded me of the playoff game and the Harper play in SF when everyone knew Emmitt was getting the ball.

I know we all have a hangover from the Romo injury, but I can tell you that it's nowhere near the abyss that the fandom in Philly is waking up to this Monday morning.

I thought I'd pass on a few nuggets:

  • Byron Maxwell commented after the game that the reason why he gave up that final touchdown to Williams was that he was "only human" and "tired." This has enraged the fan base here.

  • The most common description of their prized QB Bradford is "deer in the headlights." It's actually funny hearing them say that Weeden seems to be a better QB than Bradford.

  • They just interviewed Demeco Ryans and asked him about the Romo injury. Specifically, is he heartened that Romo will be out for several weeks? Even though he didn't cause the injury, did he take pleasure in hits like that in the past, knocking out a key player? His response was interesting: "Nah, man. As hard as you play and as much as you want to hit hard, you never want to see anyone get hurt, on your team or theirs - especially with great players."

  • They conducted a poll at the radio station. After preseason game 3, 60% of the fan base said Chip Kelly was a genius. Today, 80% have lost faith in him. There was not one single fan who called in to defend him this morning.

  • As far as the opinion on Demarco Murray, no one seems to be throwing him under the bus - almost every fan is blaming the poor offensive line play and the design of Chip Kelly's east-west running scheme not being a proper fit. Interesting footnote: from what I remember, that same scheme killed us in a few games over the past 2 years, with McCoy tearing it up and/or the play-action catching us out of position. What a difference Sean Lee makes! Also, give Marinelli some credit for finally adjusting.

  • Of course, the Philly fan base blame their own poor play on the loss more than the impressive performance by the Dallas defense (as we tend to do after a loss). However, they have given props to Sean Lee (a Penn State product), and they actually admire his play.

Just thought that on a day like today, you'd enjoy a side dish of schadenfreude with your eggs and bacon. ENJOY!
