Hmmm...The Cowboys may indeed want to "look after" Mr. Diggs. There is a deep playoff run riding on his remaining healthy and in the line-up. Yes...it's that serious. The Cowboys have now what they haven't had since the 90s superbowl run...a shutdown corner and the ability to roll coverage to the other side when required. With the return of Lawrence and "friends" to the lineup this can only get better but they definitely need Diggs if they are going to be a playoff team...AND more importantly, a playoff team that can do some damage. 5 INTs in just four games is something the Cowboys haven't seen in some time. Defensive coordinators (and opposing QBs) are going to be forced to account for him going forward.
I've wanted to wait a bit to get "interested" in the team this year. The more I see, the more I like but they will have to remember to impose will via the running game. If teams want to neglect the box then run their butts out of it. If they want to crouch the LOS and play short, then go deep six. The Cowboys have a bevy of weapons that can do both things. Today it took damn near 250 yards of running to impose will...but in the end...will was imposed.
But I will say again...Trevon Diggs is now the MVP of the defense at this point. Every interception gives you an extra possession...and coupled with an elite offense, that can help you put teams in the rear-view mirror more quickly. They need him healthy and present.
