That sir is 6 of 11 above NFL Average starters on D, and does not account for Gregory or Hyder (we'll call them flat) nor Collins, A. Woods, Awuzie all of whom are at least adequate.

This Front 7, and Defense as a whole unit is loaded. No excuses this year IMO.

The rest of the defense will be deep and talented also. Sean Lee has been to two Pro Bowls but won't start. Jourdan Lewis would start on some teams and he is our 4th CB.

Well we play alot of nickle with both Esch and Smith on the field, Lee on the bench.

This D-Line has potentially the best depth in the NFL. Quinn, Hyder, and Covington are all excellent signings. Then adding a raw pocket buster like Hill may prove to be sheer genius. Jackson and Jelks are both good players:

Put simply:

You will need to be an OUTSTANDING football player to get snaps in the DL rotation.

This is the best group of DL we've seen in years. The Front 7 in fact- is phenomenal.

You're looking at what I believe might be one star- Quality safety away from being the absolute best Defense in the NFL- bar none.

Our DL is worse without Gregory. WE have ONE great player on the Dline. Our linebackers got worse with the loss of a starter and the secondary hasnt changed at all.

We are not a perfect D, but we are no less than adequate at 1T AND S.

We are indeed loaded on D. This is the deepest Front 4 in the NFL backed by 3 Prowbowl caliber LB's, 2 of which are rapidly ascending players.

This is going to be one fierce unit. Believe it.

I could argue X.Woods should have made the pro bowl and probably has one or two in his future.

Awuzie is above average.

The way he played a year ago A.Brown was above average.

Woods was very good before he got injured.

Quinn has Pro Bowl level talent.

If Gregory plays, he is an above average defensive end.

Not many teams have this kind of quality on defense.

What gets me is that DT has been universally complained about and for good reason for basically a decade. Then we get one and all the usual complainers want to convince me it was a bad idea.

Would have been cool to get a S but it isnt like we picked a RB in round 2, we addressed a long standing need with our biggest single investment at the position that I can recall in the last decade.

Some people just want to whine, man. They're children who view cynicism as a sign of intelligence.

That playoff game is half the reason we got Hill.

People are mocking the team in one post for lacking quality DTs and giving up those yards in playoffs, and then mocking the team the next post over for picking the DT with their first pick.

Makes no sense.
