I was channel surfing, but think it was on the Dan Patrick show earlier today:

Collinsworth said that a high ranking Commander official told him that "if Brunell isnt out there we're basically dead, the other two guys cant play a lick" (paraphrased, but thats most of it)

I heard this as well. I also recall reading a Tommy Tuberville quote from back when Campbell was at Auburn along the lines of "We'd have to run a high school offense for him to fully comprehend it."

There were grumblings up here in DC that saunders said he was having issues grasping the playbook but the Mediots up here brushed it under the rug quickly.

I've posted this here before, but I live near Al Saunders here in Virginia, and while I've never met him I know someone who's neighbors with him.

During the pre-season Saunders said pretty much this same thing to him... that Campbell isn't ready at all to run the offense. That was several weeks ago though, so take it for what it's worth.

But if I were guessing, I'd say Saunders is Collinsworth's source.

Would laugh my head off if Campbell's terrible. On the other hand, we've got Romo. But let's be realistic, this is Romo's 4th season and Parcells allowed him time to develop. So if Campbell having trouble with Saunders playbook, it just means the Skins need to be more patient with him. This is Campbell's first year in Saunders offense, so he'll probably need at least another year to get the job done. Of course Commanders fan will run him out of town after 2-3 games if he looks bad. Poor kid--gotta feel sorry for him.

Exactly. You cant really compare Romo and Campbell. One has been in the same system for 4 years, and Campbell is in his first year of one of the hardest systems in the league.

People were saying all season that this offense takes a season to learn, but no one really wanted to listen to it.

I for one is going to give Campbell time to develop. If people actually expect instant success out of the kid, they are highly mistaken. I wouldn't be surprised if he looked bad the entire year. It is going to take time for him to develop, and through that time, he is going to go through a LOT of criticism

I think the Kid is already behind the 8 ball. He will not have Portis in the backfield, thats big...But they need to find out if he can play now or else they will still be looking for a QB in 07

Guys lets not forget Cambell isnt a rookie either...he's been in the system for 2 seasons already...Dont act like He's getting throwin to the worlves off the bat...

You either can play or not... ANd fact is Romo outplayed Henson sice last year...And He showed potential in pre-season.

Campbell didnt show anything in pre-season.. He's not even mobile, He doesnt have a very good long ball..He's just big and strong...Decent arm.

I can guarantee you the following: with the money invested in these coaches and players on offense (Skins are heavily invested in WR, RB and OT) and the investement they are going to have to make to keep Cooley. The Skins are not going to go into next offseason with Jason Campbell as the #1 option if they do not see enough. Byron Leftwich, Brett Favre or don't laugh Drew Bledsoe will be on that roster next year. You cannot have the contracts of Sanatanna Moss, Brandon Lloyd, Randle-El, David Patten, Clinton Portis, Chris Samuels, Randy Thomas, John Jansen etc....and put up 3 points in division games.

And it would be another example of the Skins mismanagment of draft picks. How can you invest a 1st, 3rd and 5th on a QB and then give him 7 games to prove himself? And don't think making Brunell the #2 was a not a calculated move. If Campbell pulls a Drew Henson against the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Day.....Gibbs might pull the kid.

A few weeks ago a guy on extremeskins was mentioning Sean Salisbury did a radio show from the Vegas Casino he used to work at. Anyway, apparently Sean gets blasted at the bar every week after he does his show. I think the guy had asked him about Campbell. He told the guy that word around the NFL is that Campbell is as dumb as a box of rocks.
