I dont think there's any position thats more positively or negatively effected by good or bad coaching thatn the QB position.

You got that right.. and while Peyton Manning gets Tom Moore, Romo gets Wilson and Garrett.

I believe Tony Romo is being served an incredible injustice

The years roll on.[/QUOTE]

You, or anyone else is going to have a hard time showing me many, if any examples of QB's around the league over the years that have played as well as Romo does for this long, that do so with poor coaching.

And if all you got in return is to say "Romo" as an example, then you've basically been owned.

Ya but some opinions make more sense than others.

Of course Jason needs to get credit for the improved Romo. As much as he deserves since most of it was Tony. And he should get credit for the offensive showing. He also should own not scoring enough points off that prolific offense. We should score 80 points for every 1000 yards of offense. We were in the 50-60 range. So Garrett gets to shoulder some of the blame and credit. Romo gets his own shares.

Nothing ever stays in house with this team, lol.

Everyone in this organization is always looking to yap yap yap to the media.

And then the fans look to bash the media, lol.

Jerry. The head honcho. Just spoke live less than 2 hours ago and would not confirm this, but yet we have their website reporting it and then taking it back. Then the local media confirming it with a signed deal.

:laugh1:

When has a coach signing a contract extension ever stayed in house with any team?

All sorts?

And Romo had more to do with his play than Garrett did, by far.

Records for points and yardage I thought. Maybe I am wrong.

Don't see how it would be points. 14th in the league shouldn't be a record for this team.

I feel where you coming from but who else have you seen control this offense with these weapons? how do we know that someone else wouldn't do as well or better? You don't. But mock on. How long do you feel we should ride his learning curve?

I remember attacking champ bailey. I remember four runs from the one. I remember the barber pitch. I and anyone else have a right to be unsatisfied with the offense in important games for failed adaptation, stubborness and failed gimmick plays. Sorry if you don't like it, but these things happened. What makes you think that he will make the right corrections to make up for these shortcomings during the offseason? He didn't last offseason, or the one before that. Just feel like someone with more experience could better utilize our talent on the offensive side. Just a knee jerk reaction right? Meh.

I agree to a point. I think the offense did better than I thought it would (and I was one of the worst critics). But they have a LONG way to go. I also think that had Jason Garrett had Dan Reeves here last year the offensive thinking would have been a lot different. He would have learned a lot from Reeves.

Garrett did excellent job this year simplifying things for Romo. Romo also made progress. I think we can all agree Garrett AND Romo steadily improved. U dont break offensive records with poor QB play or poor coaching. I am just afraid Garrett becomes another Sean Payton (who by the way...apparently stunk in Dallas in Garretts position)...so I am leary of what the masses have to say about any young intelligent offensive coordinator in Dallas.

That being said...giving Wade a 3 year deal is smart move...it gives him more credibility but the contract is not guarenteed...if he has a disasterous year next year he is still gone the same as if he only got one year deal and didnt perform but the 3 year deal gives presentation of stabilty at Head Coaching job.

Garrett reminds me of Greg Davis. Both OCs have offenses that have no true identity, but put up tons of yards and points. However, IMO, both offenses are successful in spite of their OC.

I love this move. Keeps consistency. lets the players know he's the man in charge for the foreseeable future. and he earned it. i'm tired of the coaching carousel. Great move.

Correct! I'm happy for Wade.

From what I understand and see on the field, is that Garrett brought on Kitna as a backup, and to coach up Romo this season. I don't know exactly how much, but I see a lot of Kitna in the faster release, holding the ball differently(not giving up as many fumbles), reading defenses, ...etc. Give some credit to Kitna.

If you were going to bring Wade back, then I think an extension was necessary. I absolutely hate having 'lame-duck' coaches.

He hasn't even signed it yet.

The point being that people are so eager to get to their media guys with a scoop that they jumped the gun here.

And when Dalrymple comes out and tells GAC that there are no announcements today you know it's people who don't even have the full story who are chirping.

If true (which it appears to be), this is Jerry's indirect way of saying to Red "You stink and I am tired of waiting for you to learn to be a real OC on the job. You will never be a head coach for this team. Later..." That's just my opinion. I think Jerry sees through to the root of the issue. Wade has done fine if you measure only the Defensive performance and the general governance of the team. Offensively some things are still lacking IMO and Red is not the man for the job... We need an established OC with a nice resume that also knows how to remain consistent in the heat of battle. I'm not fooled by the stat line. This offense is full of immense talent. You can plug & play at the OC position with a more experienced guy and find that success/continuity that's lacking on that side of the ball. Just my opinion but a strong one...

How is Wade signing an extension an indirect way of saying anything about Garrett? Garrett has 2 years left on his contract. And just a couple weeks ago Jones spoke glowingly of Garrett's future, I doubt that changed with Sunday's loss, just like his opinion of Wade didnt change with Sunday's loss.

As for being "full of immense talent" the OL performance the other day suggests otherwise.

wade needs complete control on any free agent signing on defense and the draft.

1. If you are going to give Garrett credit for the tremendous season that Romo had, then you must also extended that credit to Wade Wilson (I personally think Tony himself is who should be given the credit for the improvement in his performance).

2. Wade Phillips has gotten, and truly deserves, the props for the Defense's play this season. But shouldn't Campo be given some credit for developing Mike Jenkins, and also, shouldn't Wade and Dave both be hammered for the regression of T. Newman?

3. Should Jason G. and the WR position coach get both props (for the emergence of Austin) and hammered (for the failure that is Roy Williams)?

4. I feel Wade deserves the extension. I did not feel this way at the start of the season, but Wade earned it.

Just think it is important to have some consistency :starspin

Wade deserves to have input into players but Dallas like most teams rely on many when it comes to getting players.
