Taken from another board

4. From talking to teams around the league, I hear the Dolphins are looking to move down from the 12th pick in the draft to acquire more picks

I know this is not directly Cowboys related but it does add more fuel to the fire

Start to watch the wire for rumbles about Ronnie Brown -> San Diego.

It's possible we could look to acquire #12. Rolando McClain, anyone?

wouldnt that be funny..move up to 12 and everyone expects Thomas to be the pick and Dallas takes someone else with Thomas still on the board..who are some other possibilities?

Bryant
Mcclain
Davis

does that cover just about everyone?

#27 and Cory Proctor

For

#12

I don't think you could find a more balanced trade than that.

Unless Berry is the pick, I don't want to trade up. We'd lose to much, and draft picks are gold this year. There is a ton of depth. I'd rather trade down.

Dolphins are a popular pick to trade down as rush linebackers can be had later on. I also have a sneaking suspicion that they'd like to grab Dan Williams later or possibly Terrence Cody in the second.

Um yes please. The only problem I have with McClain as the pick is he wouldn't be an impact player this year. Where would he play? Most of us want a championship now and we would essentially be wasting a year with McClain. Not to mention we most likely wouldn't have Barber,Crayton ect..that was used for ammo to get him. So your actually looking at a step backwards because McClain isn't being utilized and you don't have Barber and Crayton.

I actually think it would be more players from our team, rather than our picks. If Ronnie goes to SD, Barber would look alot more enticing to the Phins.

I think McClain would start in place of Brooking or Bradie James, to be honest.

He would at least usurp Carpenter as the nickel linebacker.

I don't see us needing to trade up to 12 unless you want Bryant for sure. Berry is likely gone and Thomas is not worth the 12th pick. McClain is worth the 12th but we don't need him. We can use somebody at 27 or lower just as well although they won't be the impact player over the long haul that McClain is. And we don't have anybody to trade to Miami worth going from 27 to 12. Barber isn't enough to make that jump.

THINGS I HEARD AROUND THE NFL...

1. I hear that the Tampa Bay Bucs prefer Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh over Oklahoma tackle Gerald McCoy but will be happy with either.

2. The Lions are pondering between Suh and Oklahoma State offensive tackle Russell Okung. Okung can play left tackle, so moving Jeff Backus to guard would fill two needs for the Lions.

3. I know I had the Seahawks taking Clemson running back C.J. Spiller in my 10-player mock on Friday, but I hear they want an offensive tackle at No. 6 — maybe Trent Williams from Oklahoma.

4. From talking to teams around the league, I hear the Dolphins are looking to move down from the 12th pick in the draft to acquire more picks.

5. My sources tell me that Browns president Mike Holmgren talked to Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen and told him that he has not ruled him out as the seventh overall pick, despite what he’s told the media. It was Holmgren who said he “wished he liked Jimmy Clausen more,” but after Clausen’s workout Friday, he does.

6. Speaking of Clausen, the Seahawks spent a long time with him after his workout, even though Pete Carroll was not in South Bend. The Seahawks have spent considerable time with Clausen and Florida’s Tim Tebow.

7. I keep hearing from teams that Buffalo will not pick Clausen in the first, preferring a more athletic player at quarterback. In fact, someone told me that Chan Gailey, while he was offensive coordinator in Miami, was not in favor of Drew Brees as a potential pick because he had Ray Lucas on the roster. Keep in mind, Gailey has always loved athletic players as evidenced by his style of recruiting while head coach at Georgia Tech.

Actually the Lions prefer Trent Williams over Okung but want to trade down before making that pick.
