Longhorns Ex Tashard Choice Gives Dallas Cowboys Jaydon Blue Blueprint

There might not be anyone who knows the new Dallas Cowboys rookie Jaydon Blue better than former Texas Longhorns running back coach Tashard Choice.
After three seasons of being on the same sideline, two former Texas Longhorns will match up opposite of each other this coming fall. When the Dallas Cowboys face off with the Detroit Lions this coming season, Jaydon Blue and Tashard Choice will be on opposite sides.

Yet, although he will not be coaching Blue as he begins his NFL career, Choice did not hold back any secrets during a recent interview with DallasCowboys.com's Tommy Yarrish. Choice gave his NFC foes, the Cowboys, a scouting report on how they should use Blue.

Yes and he played pretty good for us. I remember the game against Pitt. Choice was tough....
Was that the game we choked away to the Steelers? It was either really windy and cold or snowing, I forget. But the weather was an issue. Few games made me more mad than that one.

As much as I like Blue, we don't want him taking too many RB 1 carries. The toll that takes on a speed guy catches up quickly. I want a bigger dude taking those between the tackles carries.
He's 6' 200 pounds. Not a small guy and can def run between the tackles. My only problem with him is his fumbling. I'm a UT fan so I watched him in college. That was his biggest flaw for me.

Transition to the nfl and have some success and being Gibbs are 2 entirely different things
It’s a player comparison and they are spot on identical from a skill set standpoint.

Blue may never be the player Gibbs is but their skill set is identical.

Yeah he's not frail, but I feel like too many punishing hits might limit his effectiveness speed wise. Accumulative. I'd prefer a bigger guy like Mafah and Williams taking those carries.

I'm already reaching prematurely, but i wouldnt be surprised if Blue ends up being our RB1 at early to mid point of the season.
he's already our most talented and explosive RB on the current roster.

- It'll be about how early he can make a big impression on the staff, and create plays in both run/pass game.

- i'd liked to spell & pace Blue in a similar role to Lions Jaymr Gibbs as RB2 to David Montgomery, in bringing him off the bench, scheme him properly but also
be careful not wear/tear him down.

- and please don't let this new coaching staff be like the 2023 coaches that decided to use Pollard like a in-between tackles/bell cow, RB.
I dont know if he will be RB1 but that’s not as important as how many touches he gets. I think he will get a fair share of touches and some plays in passing game. He’s like Turpin. You get the ball in their hands

The difference being we've watched Deuce do nothing in the NFL for 2 years, while Blue hasn't been given a shot yet.

Unless Deuce has made huge strides in his receiving in the offseason, he'll be lucky if they even want him on the PS.
I think he’d be perfect for PS because he knows the system. But I don’t think he will be on the 53. Not all his fault since we didn’t use him well. Pounding up the middle isn’t best use of a guy that s strength is speed. You get them on the edge or catches in space

Double team CeeDee and your LB is 1on1 against Blue...advantage Dallas

Show all out blitz to Dak pre-snap, motion blue out the backfield to read the defenses e-mail...advantage Dallas

I look at Blue as a weapon, a weapon in the passing game, and if he does good in the run game that's gravy.
Dak better throw decent passes to the flat to RB ,LOL
