Blowing up a team - coaching staff and a QB - is a big decision. It’s riskh. We paid too much for Cooper, but Jerry probably believed he had to make one more move before he pulled the trigger.

1. They were going to take a WR #1 anyway. Would they have gotten someone better than Cooper at 10? Would he have contributed year 1?
2. Can Dak be the guy? We know a lot more of we give him a #1 receiver and he still doesn’t produce.
3. This move puts it all on the coaches and QB to deliver right now. If they don’t, we’re a lot closer to having our answer and moving a different direction.

So even though we overpaid, the move will provide much more clarity by the end of the year in terms of what direction to take the coaches, QB and team. If we end up sucking with Cooper we aren’t in very good shape though. But it will make decisions much easier.

That is all.

It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out. I would feel better about the trade if we had won yesterday. But the NFC East is so weak this year anything can happen.

If cooper (the savior) doesnt come in here and has this offense scoring 20 points a game going forward its hard to rationalize not blowing up the offense and starting over...

Keep Martin, Collins, Williams, Gallup, Swaim, Shultz, Fred(if healthy), zeke to help get the new guys adjusted and just flush the rest

Well said. Hadn't thought of it that way!

People need to realize that Cooper is still really young, Carr is not a great QB & this is one more step in firing Garrett. I fully believe this is Jerry going, no more excuses, win now or never.
I guess we are now saying Dak is better than Carr

And your also saying Dak is "great" and will make Cooper better even though we traded him to help Dak look great?

Its not already clear that the coaches and QB cant deliver?

Very well said and I agree 100% It was an insightful move as well as a much needed upgrade at the receiver position. Some people don't see mutliple sides to a decision, they just see it as face value.

I'm sure someone knows but with our front office, maybe they like to give multiple chances to see improvement before making a decision? Not sure.

Yes! A point I just figured after doing some research is that Calvin Ridley the WR that a lot of episode were wanting is 23 yes old, turns 24 in December.
While Amari Cooper is 24, but he just turned 24 back in July. So they are basically the same age. But Amari Cooper is more athletic, and with a better skill set. Proven by where they were both drafted at.

So you can look at this trade, as us drafting a WR and not Wasting a pick.

Technically we got the best WR in the draft possible.

I’ve come around to like this trade after sitting back and thinking about it

1. Why do they have to take a WR #1? That's just crazy stupid if that's what the FO was set to do. This team probably needs #1 WR, TE, LT, FS just to name the pressing needs.....oh...and the elephant in the room a franchise QB.
2. Give Dak a #1 WR honestly won't do much if he can't see the field or the OL can't block.
3. Unfortunately I already know the answers to this one without needing to waste my #1 next year.

If this is what our FO thoughts were, then I can suck it up and see what happens. However, your well thought out scenario probably never entered their minds because it makes too much sense

I'm trying to reserve judgement until it plays out. Atleast all excuses are off the table for Garrett and Dak.

In regards to Cooper being our first, thats one way to look at it. Except were going to have to make a contract decision much sooner for a lot more money.

boy are some of you going to be excited when they give Dak 100M for the next 5 years
and extend Garrett for another 3

btw, thanks for destroying my draft optimism in October, Stephen.
Yup. My future hope has been flushed down the toilet. Now looking forward to draft day 2020.

If we would have won that Commanders game would that have changed your outlook on the team? We are definitely playing short-handed with Garrett and the WR are not helping the situation. Jones is basically saying here is Cooper.... He will be your number 1 and he will open up the run game. If you can't win with a stacked defense and serviceable weapons then you must go and so should Dak. I'd be willing to be that Romo talks to Jones about Garrett and he is starting to see the real picture.

This is the way I see it. They are investing a 1st round draft pick and going to pay a hefty salary (no rookie deal here) for a dude with questionable hands and desire to find the grit. Huge risk.
