Look at this way

If we would have won that Commanders game would that have changed your outlook on the team? We are definitely playing short-handed with Garrett and the WR are not helping the situation. Jones is basically saying here is Cooper.... He will be your number 1 and he will open up the run game. If you can't win with a stacked defense and serviceable weapons then you must go and so should Dak. I'd be willing to be that Romo talks to Jones about Garrett and he is starting to see the real picture.

The outcome of the Commanders game has no baring on my outlook for the QB and Coach. Dak was missing wide open WRs all day. Romo pointed it out literally ten times. It shouldn't have to cost your team a 1st round pick to learn what you have. Its just bad value.

Was it really necessary to spend a No#1 pick and $14 million to decide if our below average QB is worth $25 million a season ?

No one knows what next year's draft holds. D.lawrence might be so expensive a trade could be made. But we are in need of a top we and now we have one. Look what some suggested we give up for earl Thomas.

Blowing up a team - coaching staff and a QB - is a big decision. It’s riskh. We paid too much for Cooper, but Jerry probably believed he had to make one more move before he pulled the trigger.

1. They were going to take a WR #1 anyway. Would they have gotten someone better than Cooper at 10? Would he have contributed year 1?
2. Can Dak be the guy? We know a lot more of we give him a #1 receiver and he still doesn’t produce.
3. This move puts it all on the coaches and QB to deliver right now. If they don’t, we’re a lot closer to having our answer and moving a different direction.

So even though we overpaid, the move will provide much more clarity by the end of the year in terms of what direction to take the coaches, QB and team. If we end up sucking with Cooper we aren’t in very good shape though. But it will make decisions much easier.

That is all.
how do you know they wouldn't? and its not just about that, now they have a player they have to pay heavily, and we have several other players that we have to pay...a drafted players would be cheaper in a 5 year period...now the next excuse is that we don't have a TE and Dak can't do it without a TE....next that we need a #2 WR and we need a great FB and a brain transplant for Dak maybe...

signing Cooper means we have to forgo having Lawrence, Jones, Collins or signing a safety......so supposedly we are getting stronger in one area, but will cost us talent in other areas, and Dak is still the biggest issue

If they were taking a WR with their #1 pick , then they've already determined Dak is the QB of the future.

That’s the only positive I see. If Dak and JG fail someone HAS to go

How? Before Cooper we were slated to have $69Million in free cap space next year. Plenty of room to sign all of our free agents.

I can definitely see this as
JERRAL' s " drill stem test" in allowing him to more easily ascertain in which direction to pursue ,further development of the well or tear down the drilling rig & move on to a more promising location.

THIS IS A VERY Good, enlightening& THOUGHT PROVOKING THREAD O.P. @goshan :starspin:

I really hate that him and Dak are due up for big contracts at the same time.

Another great WR under this inept coaching staff .

After 9 years, its dumb to think anything will change .

the only thing that changes now are the fans. we ll lose some good loyal ones because they will see this franchise will go no where for another 3 years.

I think it's more about verifying if the goofball headcoach gets the axe or not.

I guess there will be no more tank talk around here. Since we won’t even have a draft pick anyways.

There's no doubt that Jerry just pushed all of his chips on the table for this year; it leaves Garrett with no excuses at the end of the year. No division/playoffs = no job.
