Look out Matt Jones!

He's an outside Wr not a TE so he likely wont get matched up with safeties but if Dallas plays the way they did last week and Matt Jones catches the ball underneath 31 he will wish he remained at QB.

Rules were different int he 70s and 80s so safeties and Cbs got away with a lot but they were not linebackers playing safety either. We can talk all we want about even Ronnie Lott but he was a CB moved to Safety not a LB.

There have been lots of hard hitting headhunting safeties but they didn't weigh 230+ like RW and Sean Taylor do. Not even the 6'4" Atwater.

RW is the hardest hitting safety I have seen in my lifetime. He is probably the only guy in the league that doesn't have to wrap up.

What does a TE have to do with anything? Unless your saying that a WR can't be covered by a Safety in the NFL. I'm sure that is not what you are saying JT. The truth of the matter is that while Jones may be an outside WR now, eventually, the OC will find ways to get him matched up with a Safety in the slot. It will happen just as soon as he learns more of the offense.

As far as Ronnie Lott is concerned, well, he played something like 14 season, of which maybe 2 were at CB. I'd say that makes him a safety but I guess you can look at it how you want. Either way, Lott was always a hitter. What is the difference between him lighting you up at CB or Safety?

There are no LBs playing Safety today and there weren't any then. That's simply not accurate.

Roy Williams is a hitter but he's not the hardest hitting safety I've ever seen and RLWs, like every other good tackler, needs to learn to wrap up. That's the truth of the matter.

Jones is a young guy who has to learn a lot before he can become an accomplished WR in the NFL but I wouldn't shade him too much. This is a big man with speed. If he can catch, and it looks like maybe he can, he's going to be a very tough match up.

You or anybody saying he's not any good or wont be able to take the punishment is not a fact. We will see if he can do it. If he can, there are going to be a lot of people back peddling on him. I suspect that will be the case but that's just my opinion.

If you mean what I think you mean, Roy will treat Matt like his Arkansas sister?

ROFLMAO!!!!

:laugh2:

You almost got it ...

... but it's not as funny now that I think about it. Roy played at Oklahoma, he might not think it's that big of a deal.

:laugh2:

I am very sure any of our Arkansas posters find this humor very distasteful and being from Oklahoma I can relate to some of your moronic statements.I know it sucks being politically correct but how bout we talk about your sister huh?Hey our owner is from Arkansas reckin' ole Jerrah pokes his sister.Disgusting!

It was a joke. I was just saying since Roy is a classy guy, Cowboy and all, that he probably wouldn't take kindly to him. Afterall, he is from Arkansas.

Seriously though, it was a joke. I heard an announcer say that before the UT/Arkansas game last year.

The Arkansas fans were heckling the UT fans ... and one fired back with something to that nature. The announcer was actually getting in on some of the smack talk too. It was one of those things though, that you had to hear.
