Looking back at the 2007 Cowboys

Not really no one expected us to lose to the he giants who we beat twice already. I felt very confident going into that game and potentially a game against green bay at home who we had already beaten before. Giants were just a team that got hot at the right time. I will say the biggest red flag on that team was Anthony Henry and he got burned by Toomer predictably.
Letting very slow Armani run down sideline was pitiful

. That is unfair, so I will re-state my opinion. My opinion circles Jacques Reeves' collapse as an NFL cornerback in the final 50 seconds of the half.
Jacques Reeves was never an NFL CB. Lol

Honestly that's a game we should have and could have won

But also I will say, the Giants were just kind of a team of destiny that year

if they would have gone to GB amd got blown out in the NFCCG that one might have hurt more

But they won at Lambeau and then derailed the 18-0 Pats

Unfortunately they got hot at the right time. I hate it. But it was just their time

The 2007 Cowboys were 13-3 and clinched the one seed. We know what happened vs the Giants in the postseason.

Doubts started for me when they barely beat a bad Detroit team. After losing to the Eagles, they barely beat a horrific Carolina team. I still had confidence. But cracks were beginning to show with the coaching staff and execution. When they lost to Washington in week 17 (terrible weather and resting starters) I saw shots of Wade Phillips reaction. It was a meaningless game. But nothing about him inspired confidence. Something seemed off and I thought this team would be in big trouble against a great HC. And that is how it played out vs the Giants.

Was there red flags before that Giants game for you?
Dear lad, you've been carrying this around for all these years?
Be kind to yourself and let it go. :)

They handled Carolina handily, after losing TO.

Both of those playoff losses sucked, but I don't think we would've beat the Pats in the SB if we had gotten there either year. Neither Wade or Garrett were going to out coach Belichick or stop Brady.

The more I read this thread the memories come back from watching this game. Thanks, I hate it.

They snatched defeat from the jaws of victory that game.

Not sure how many times Cabo will be mentioned, but I think it is completely safe saying it be more than twice.

Not counting this post, of course.

CABO!

Me? My opinion forever circles the total collapse of the defense before the half. That is unfair, so I will re-state my opinion. My opinion circles Jacques Reeves' collapse as an NFL cornerback in the final 50 seconds of the half.

That's more fair. Wait. I feel it coming. From the tips of my toes. Through my legs. Into my gut. My throat...

CABO!!!
Wuh?..... no mention of Jessica Simpson?

That one too! Just did a quick search of the thread thus far and no mention of her either.

I am sincerely surprised. There have hundreds of posts about Cabo and Jessica Simpson as some of the reasons for Dallas' fast exit out of the playoffs that season.

And yet, crickets. Real Twilight Zone stuff. It is like William Shatner did not really see something destroying the wing of the airplane, lol.

I recall the Cowboys gave up a TD with 50 seconds left in the half.
Marion Barber was spent after the 1st half.
Crayton should have stayed on the bus.
The Cowboys couldn't cover Amani Toomer for God's sake.
Yeah, the decision to start and ride Barber in that first half changed the entire trajectory of the game. Believe he went for 100+ in the first half and then had nothing left for the second half.

Giants proved they were the best team peaking at the right time. That being said, Dallas was a dropped pass from Creighton and Creighton not running out his route in the last series from being in the NFC championship game. That was the year they had their best shot IMO.
There's a reason we always end up judging seasons against 2007. It was the best team we've had since the 90s, and it's not particularly close when you look at how comprehensively they were built out, and the depth they had.
