How could have anybody suspected that this was going to come to fruition? I know a lot of us were very stoked with the move. The price was steep, but we were getting what we thought was a true #1, or so some of us thought. I remember Hos was estatic at the time.

In hindsight, at least for the past 1 1/2 seasons it's looking worse then Joey "Blow out my knee" on the first game Galloway.

What I want to delve into is what we could have got had we not made the move. But you also have to look at what would we have still here had we not, as in TO. We would have never let him go had we not that move.

But we would have had a 1 and a 3. I can't remember where we picked last year, but I've heard several people say we could have gotten Michael Oher at our spot! We could have also had Percy Harvin if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, the people with more knowledge, or better memory can enlighten me on this.

I have one thing to say though....ain't hindsight a ***ch!

I dont know, maybe a real GM who had worked his way through the ranks, with some trusted contacts in the league, would have made a few phone calls to get feed back before making the move. Said GM likely gets a consensus that they should not give up three picks for a guy that has never produced as expected. The RW trade and Galloway trade are the kind that gets people fired when they actually have someone to answer to.

Stupid, stupid trade. I thought he learned from Galloway.

He's not the type you trade for, Jerry. You idiot.

I didn't like it the day it happened. because you give up that much for a top 5 player in his position and RW wasn't in the top 20.

Why give up a 1st and 3rd for a WR who is about to be a FA?
The thinking/rationalization at the time was that we would get his services for the rest of the 2008 season as well. Remember, we were 4-2 at the time of the trade and T.O. was showing real signs of decline as an elite WR. Plus, they had a new contract in place for him when they made the trade. We ended up with the 20th pick in the 2009 draft and the points value of our 1st, 3rd and 6th (less their 7th, which we got in return) put the value of RW somewhere between the 15th and 16th pick in the draft. Since Oher was the 23rd pick in the draft, yes we could have gotten him. However, I think Jeremy Maclin was the player we coveted in last year's draft if I remember correctly.

I'm disappointed in the trade like everyone else is. I think we need to develop what we have now in Kevin Ogletree and hope he turns out like Miles Austin. Either that or go get us a nice WR from the draft.

I think you are right on both.

Further develop Miles and KO. Then draft WR's annually, doesnt have to be a high, just groom the groom-able ones.

Roy has been a major disappointment. You could argue that his lack of contribution was the difference in the Vikings game. IF Roy contributes then maybe those drives dont die.

Very disappointed in what has NOT transpired with Roy.

"And let me be even more frank, just to show you that I'm not a hard-hearted man, that it's not all dollars and cents"............. I am willing to give Roy one more year.

To not get into a bidding war with other franchises...but yeah, I felt like we kind of got hosed.

Our owner needs big names to sell seats. At least that is what he thinks.
I like the idea of grooming myself. Romo was well groomed.

It's karmic payback for our thievery in the Herschel Walker trade of yesteryear.

Overpaid 4th option.

Um, his reputation coming out of Texas? His reputation coming out of Detroit? I was very surprised we brought him in ESPECIALLY considering he would have been a free agent in a few more months anyway, but Jerry wanted a guarantee of having him and made the deal.

OK, so everyone makes a bad deal once in a while. Many leaders in business that I know and respect all say the same thing; when you know you've made a bad decision, don't wait around for it to eventually get better. Cut your losses, learn from it, and try not to make the same mistake again.

It's been a year and a half with him now, and it's not getting better. I;m no cap expert but, if there was any way of moving forward, that's what I'd do.

It didn't take hindsight to know that this trade was a disaster the moment it went down. I called it at the time. Roy Williams was absolutely the wrong guy to go after.

Looking back on the Roy Williams trade, the Lions knew what they DIDN'T HAVE and Jerry Jones proved he's not a ........"Football Guy".

Exactly. Why give up a 1 and a 3 for Williams when we could have gotten Boldin for that? Now, Boldin seems to be getting injured more often but, when healthy, he's VASTLY superior to Williams.

But, nope, Jerry had wood for Williams, and Williams he got. He could have had him for no draft picks and for millions less, but he had to have him RIGHT THEN.

Generally, Jerry has gotten smarter as he's gone on and I'm pleased enough with him as GM, but that was one major-league bonehead move.
