Looking back on the Roy Williams trade

Losing the 1st and 3rd made it turn into a Special Teams draft.

The Roy Williams trade was a great thing! Not for the performance on the field, which has been just middling so far. But it gave the people in the organization who wanted to jettison TO the ammunition they needed to convince Jerry. In that context, it was worth it. IMO.

No, it wasn't.

If we hadn't traded for Roy, Austin probably establishes himself last year and we release TO anyways.

Then we have the 1st and the 3rd to play with - maybe we draft Maclin or Oher - both turned out to be very good players in their rookie years.

The other thing is we also have $9M of cap space to play around with to try and go after a young FA.

That Roy trade really put us way back. Any of you who try and rationalize the pick by the development of Miles are deluding yourself. The only way Jerry redeems himself is if Ogletree is as good as Maclin and he has the courage to release RW so he doesn't interfere in KO's development.

Or Bench RW11 and make him earn playing time

That's okay in theory.

But so long as RW is here Jerry hasn't conceded the trade was a flop and the orders will be that RW plays.

If trading or cutting him is simply not an option, ignoring the paycheck and playing the best player (never a sure thing with Jerry) MUST be the course of action.

And, if it is, there isn't much question in my mind that Tree outplays Roy.

And that is just ridonkulous.

I remember reading or hearing somewhere that the Cowboys seriously are considering cutting him but are going to keep him mainly due to his cap number. I would be very surprised if they keep him if he stinks next season.

That is easy the coaches sit down with him and tell him this summer you are fighting for the #2 and #3 spot in the wr battle you better learn both position and better be ready to go and if you get beat out you get beat out
