Now that the seasons over and where we know Dallas will draft. Also, roughly where the Cowboys will be against the cap. And how much they can create. Who eligible to be released who should and who most likely will, Resignings amnd restructures will tell us what this team will end up doing moving forward to the 2013 season.

First ill start with saying im disappointed the seasons over, but im not disappointed in this team. They showed up every weak and the injuries just piled up. I can accept this season. The team isn’t perfect and they need to address some parts of the team but I think most of the team and depth is pretty much a lock. The only good thing that came out of the injuries was t showed Dallas that they do have some quality backups.

Sterlin Moore, Ernie Sims or Poppinga id like to see Dallas retain.

Now Down to the releases:

*Doug Free
Kenyon Coleman
Marcus Spears
Dan Connor

I think Sensabaugh can be released in june if one of the S’ on the team take the next step or Dallas gets a Safety in the draft.

It was hard to put Free there but I think it’s run its course. There really isn’t very much difference between Free and Parnell. Except Parnell has better Athleticism. The only way I see Free still on the team in 2013 is if he restructures. Coleman and Spears are good vs the run especially Coleman but its just a numbers game, and they provide nothing in terms of any thing symbolizing a passrush or pressure. I could actually see them keeping one but he would have to have a tremendous offseason. Connor is a younger Bradie James and whiter lol. Carter is going to be a special kind of player so Connor is gone. Im still on the fence with Ratliff where id Love for the team to release him but with the cap and its hit you might be better paying him 7 mil to play then 7 mil and get nothing to show for it. But I think he needs to move over to DE.

Restructures need to happen before Dallas can think bout signing anybody, even their own FAs.

Romo: should get a new deal and his cap will get cut in half.
Austin: should be fairly easy to restructure
*Free: If he does he’ll be a Cowboy in 2013
Ware: Another contract that could be restructured and give him more yrs more guaranteed money.

Im sure theres more they can do. But I don’t expect there to be a big spending budget they’re going to have.

Resigning FAs is where it get tricky with Spencer. I don’t think Dallas will have the money to sign him and get other players signed and whatnot. It will be hard to see spencer go but I think a team overpays for him.

Ladoucer
Sterling Moore
Poppinga or Sims
Victor Butler
John Phillips

Should all be fairly easy to get done. All for depth but atleast we know that they can play is pushed into action

In Terms of FA I don’t think Dallas will be big players but I think they’ll sign a couple vets. One guy I like he’s fairly young and is a big motor guy playing for a team lost in what they want to do.

Matt Shaughnessy DE OAK

Some others I think in pos’ Dallas needs

Jaqua Parker DE CLE
Terrance Knighton NT JAX
Ron Brace NT FA
Erik Walden OLB GB

In all I think Dallas ends up with 2 or 3 FAs. If Ratliff stays a DE I think will be the focus for Dallas this offseason

The Draft:

RD1 I Would actually prefer Dallas to trade down. But they probably wont.
Chance Warmack G Bama or Jonathon Cooper G UNC

RD2
Chase Thomas OLB Stanford

RD3
Brandon Williams NT Missouri Southern

RD4
Brennan Williams T UNC

RD5
Baker Steinkuhler DE Nebraska

RD6
Mister Cobble NT Kentucky

I think the problem is the middle of the defence and the middle core of the OL. So I focused a draft there.

Warmack or Cooper would do wonders for this OL. I actually think Costa will be starting in 2013 and im ok with that. Cook can be brought back as a FA or not. Kowalski will be back and I think he can easily be a starter aslong as he can stay healthy. Chase Thomas is the guy im hoping for in this draft. Guy comes from every direction. They use Chase at Stanford the way Ryan started to use Spencer. Brandon Williams is the type of BIG body NT this team needs.

I think this offseason will be pretty uneventful but atleast the injuries of 2012 will be gone. If the Cowboys come out playing the way they did the last half of the season with a healthy team. Look out NFL.

Now to the most important part of the offeseason. COACHING

I just think this job is too big for Garrett, but if Jerry rides with him then so be it. I just wished Garrett realized that he’s not very good putting a gameplan together. I just know something needs to be done in this area because coaching has actually cost Dallas games. I know fans say that as an excuse but Dallas fans can actually say coaching has cost the team games.

ill end this with a thank you to Jerry Jones. He’s put together a deep team. Sure theres holes but theres something this team hasn’t had in a very very long time and that’s depth. This team doesn’t need to be blown up but it needs to patched up and a hole or two plugged up.

Heres to 2013.

I agree with the list of those to get rid of. As for Free, I think it would hurt the cap more to keep him over the next few years then to release him. I still don't think he goes anywhere though, maybe moves to RG.

Sensi needs to be released and I would not mind seeing Austin go as well. We need a reliable receiver, not one who gets injured every other week and his playing status is uncertain. Let Harris play the slot and sign a FA outside guy.

For the drafting, both lines need major work. I would say for them to try and address the off line with FA's and a later draft pick. Use the first few rounds on a NT, DE and a safety. Maybe a center but I think Costa will suffice if he can stay healthy, the def line needs quality players badly.

There are too many holes to fix through drafting in one season, they have to do some prospecting thru FA.

Free is not build to play guard. He does not have the bulk or leg strength. He gets pushed into the backfield by 260 lb LB's - what do you think would happen to him with a 320 lb DT/NT?

I know he is going to get paid but letting Spencer walk would be a travesty. Good teams find a way to keep good players. Spencer, although some here might not agree, has always been a very good player that does the dirty work that get's overlooked. He is a solid guy from what I hear too. This tam needs to ink him to a new deal ASAP.

People say that he is being driven by a contract year but he has always played hard and been a solid player for us. The year we went to the playoffs and beat the Eagles I thought he was the best player on this team - he was playing at a different level. He is often overshadowed by Ware but at this point in their careers he is a better all around player - IMO. (yes, I know Ware is hurt) He might not rush the passer as well but he can put pressure on the QB, is great against the run, has some speed, and is tough.

I agree i hope he stays. I just think some team might just push a number dallas cant match

Cowboys will retain Spencer. Worst case they will franchise him again.

I would look to cut/move on from the following players including,

F Jones, Ogletree, Free, Dockery, Coleman and/or Spears, Jenkins. (Jenkins will get paid a lot more elsewhere.)

In FA I would upgrade Ogletree with a veteran wideout. Also, in FA I would look to pick up a quality OG and move Berny to compete at OC against Costa. On defense I would look to pick up a DE in FA (and part ways with Spears and/or Coleman).

If we could get these 3 positions filled in FA, I'd be pretty happy.

In the Draft, Round 1 I take a top quality DL, in Round 2 I would look for an OT, in Round 3 I'd consider either a Safety, LB, RB, or OC. If we don't get a RB in Round 3, I'd look to pick up one in Round 4.

Heres to 2013.

I think 2013 all comes down to what Jerry does about Garrett. I believe 100% that we will not make the playoffs next year if Garrett is back, he is a .500 HC at best.

He cannot make in game adjustments, he never attacks an opponents weakness, and he gets outcoached almost every week. When did you ever hear after a game this year that Dallas really had a great offensive scheme against a team? Hardly ever, and that is the sad reality of the situation.

We have a big enough sample of Garrett as HC now, we know we can expect more of the same next year if he is retained. If Jerry likes being .500, then he should keep Garrett.

The change that would net the most for 2013 would be hiring a "real" offensive coordinator. Callahan was named OC to appease the masses while we still run Garrett's crappy zero adjustment offense.

I am sick and tired of having to look ahead to the next year at this point in the season. Based on previous off seasons, looking ahead to the next season is as depressing as the previous season. The Cowboys are in this perpetual loop of sucking during the season followed up with sucking during the off season.

Being a Cowboys fan is as hard as it's ever been right now and that includes the late 90's.

Maybe some of these posters are right, maybe this team is cursed.

GM changing? Nothing else matters.

You're suggesting a continuation on the failed path we're already on. The Cowboys need someone in who can make an honest evaluation of the players, coaches, and personnel department. We don't have that right now, sadly.

Garrett should remain hc of this team but there should be an oc hired. Red can't handle both jobs and that's ok we can make that change and see what happens.

Romo will be back because there really isn't any other choice at this year. Hopefully, The o-line can be fixed and he can have a clean pocket on a more consistent basis. I am not blaming the line for the loss last night i'm just saying they need improved.

The defense will be healthy next year because hopefully we got all the injuries out of our system this year. Maybe just maybe we can contend next year and we won't have to have another win and your in game.

We will see what happens. :starspin

Do you have us taking 2 NTs because you have Ratliff shifting to DE and Brent up in the air? I would much rather take 1 and make more of an effort to address the safety position. This draft is oozing with talent at FS/SS.

I have it more because there is nothing really in the tank. You gotta build depth

My thoughts on your changes. I agree these guys need to go I think Coleman is a FA

*Doug Free
Kenyon Coleman
Marcus Spears
Dan Connor

We can not release both Sensi and Free we can only split out one player over two years and Free is the guy Sensi is better when he does not have to make all the calls.

Ladoucer= Maybe back they tried to replace him in summer camp and almost did.
Sterling Moore= I Hope for depth purposes
Poppinga or Sims Both for cheap if we can
Victor Butler= Gone Albright is better and cheaper
John Phillips= Gone Hanna is taking over that role better and cheaper

Austin may be gone his cap figure is way to expensive to be so easily taken out of games. I like Austin but this about cap and only about cap on him if he restructures so it is easy to cut him or make him a backup or 3rd wr if we need to then great.

I think Spencer's walks and I am not sure they can afford to franchise him again.
