He's the fastest guy that's ever played football. All of those track athletes that the Raiders had like World record setting Willie Gault were no match for Deion. He was insulted when they tried to go deep on him only to see him look like he was back there waiting for a punt because he had out run them so badly.

Deion walked into the combine, ran a 4.2 forty and went home.

There's really no way to know because Deion didn't train to be an Olympic style track athlete. Why would he when he can play Pro football and Pro baseball at the same time?

1.) Sanders wasnt the fastest guy who played football. Bo Jackson was. He ran a 4.12 at the combine.
2.) Those times were not elecrtonicaly timed. So forget about them...
source: http://www.statisticbrain.com/fastest-40-yard-dash-times-in-nfl-history/

3.) ... as you can forget about most of those 40 yds times. You cant compare them to world class sprinters. Those times are not legit 40 times when it comes to time measurement standards. Its just a good PR thing for the NFL marketing campain so the NFL makes sure everybody thinks those times are the real stuff.

I guess I'm in the minority but I still love Deion.

I don't care about his opinions any more than I do any other media member, and when I hear his name I still think of him as a football player (a Cowboy, specifically) and not a TV analyst. He was incredible to watch and helped us win a Super Bowl. That's good enough for me.

I tend to agree, I still like Deion, for the fact he helped contribute to a SB win as a Cowboy.
Don't care for his opinions at times, but then again there are many others I don't like their crap either at times. But Deion can come up with some good stuff too. I bash him now and then, but still like him to a point. I think we as fans take it personal when an ex player is critical of our team, even though sometimes they may be right. A lot they are not trying to be a homer.

As for being the fastest, well, another fast DB was Darrell Green.
Yet Michael Irvin who was not considered fast, beat both of them on a regular basis, so their being fast didn't matter with Irvin. :D

Sanders is an opportunist. He has seen Dez get his life together and sees Dez becoming one of the best, if not the best, receivers in the NFL, he wants to get on that train before its too late.

Yes, he knows he screwed up by distancing himself with Dez. Maybe he's now trying to get back in. But Dez signed some agreement and is affiliated with Michael Jordan. Can't remember exactly what it was for.
But Dez said he will show Jordan made the right choice, and he won't let him down.

Also maybe Dez & Deion just decided it's better to let the past go, as this is better for the kids.

Deon got mad because he brokered a sponsorship deal between UnderArmour and Dez and Dez agreed to sponsor but preferred to actually wear Nike...or at least, that's my understanding. Anyway, good to see that they put their differences aside to mentor future Pro Football players.

No, the problem was UA shoes wouldn't stay on and were uncomfortable even after break in. Plank also treated him like a $ sign.

When you mature, hopefully you get better and learn to deal with multiple types of people/personalities... as well as learn from your own mistakes.
Dez is maturing..

It's unfortunate that Deion has such an unappealing personality, because he was such a spectacular player. I still believe that Deion might be the fastest person that has ever lived but most people don't really want to acknowledge his greatness because he's such d-b and I don't mean defensive back.

I'll give you perhaps the fastest football player ever. But fastest human being?

Deion ran a 10.21 100m while at Florida State...

Usain Bolt ran a 9.58...and was running sub-10 seconds during the same age that Deion was in college.

No comparison whatsoever if you know Track and Field.

Alexander Wright was faster than Deion.... the debate is, was he a football player.

Wright was football player, it is the old adage, you can't teach speed. The bad thing is he had horrible hands, think Heyward-Bey times ten. A 4.09 40 is impressive.

I have never had issues with Deion. Granted something’s he has said I don't agree with but then who agrees with everything anyone says? As a player he was boastful but then so was Irvin. In the end they went out put in the word and took the abilities that had to become HOF players.

That's not a different puzzle. That's different pieces to the same puzzle. Just sayin...

He didn't seriously train to run 100m. The start is also a big part of running the 100m.

Also, I don't know if 100m is the perfect measurement. I'm certain that speed in mph tops out before 100m.

The true test would be mph. That takes out the starting blocks and lets the runner peak at whatever distance is best for them.

Football is about burst in small areas, I think there are many athletes that would stay with Usain in a short distance only to be out classed towards the end.

Darrell Green was a pretty fast football player, every bit as fast as any other football player in his era. Th thing with Deion was that the legend has it he ran a 4.2 at the combine and went home. He refused to ever be timed again.

I've always liked Deion. Thats probably aided by the fact that I ignore analysts and commentators.
