I agree with you.

As to your last point about the lack of consternation about naming Bowles DC vs. allowing our new Head Coach the latitude to pick his own, I think it might have something to do with the fact that Mr. Bowles was held in high esteem by our former coach. I just hope he's more Weis/Belichick than Carthon.

The players like Bowles, Bowles has run through all the motions (no graphic wordplay here) and the plumbing (ok maybe just a little) is fundamentally good with the defense, just not creative which is where a Phillips gameplan and good playcalling will allow Bowles to shoot out a quality unit.

That and Parcells had high regard for him and was going to elevate him to DC. I mean, what else can you really know about an assistant coach?

Maybe the fact that Bowles doesn't know Phillips system and Phillips might want at least one of his guys who do know it.

Didn't our O-line suck when Sparano was coaching it exclusively? Wasn't our offense a top 5 offense when Sparano was the "coordinator"? If some people had their way, Sparano would have been fired a long time ago. Sometimes you just can't judge a position coach on how well those players play. After all, it wasn't Bowles that was calling the coverages week in and week out.

every secondary will suck when the Qb has 14 seconds to throw it, our front 7 was the culprit for not gaining enough pressure
