Looks Like The Bears Have A Little Mess Brewing

I watched Cold Pizza this morning, and it looks like fate might be on our side, and that this year just might be our year. The 2 biggest challengers to the Cowboys seem to be having friction at just the right time. Cedric Benson is in Chicago running his mouth and throwing people under the bus. He's complaining about not playing more and getting enough carries, and said that the Bears staff is making up excuses to keep him off the field. He also said that he and Thomas Jones are definately not friends. They even had a few words exchanged.

On a side note, look for a PO'd Vikings team to get after them this week, especially with Rex Grossman talking trash to them.

Benson should never have gone to the bears, they didn't even need a rb, they could have used a qb or an OLB at that time

Didn't Benson also complain the the Bears D was deliberately trying to injure him in training camp?

I think I'll worry about the Giants before I worry about the Bears. It's a cart and horse thing I have going.

Benson was way over-rated at Texas and he's continued that in the pros. He never showed up for big games in College and he almost never shows up for any game in the NFL. He shouldn't even be playing at all, really. He kind of reminds me of Troy Hambrick.

What interests me here is that a few days ago in the presser Bill was asked about MBIII and JJ -- e.g., about flipping their roles, etc. -- he spoke extensively about how neither of them complained and said that it was important that Julius had his brother to bounce stuff off.

You can be sure Thomas has used the Benson situation as an example of how not to do things with his little brother.

I have a very good contact in the Bears organization who says they might be willing to play Benson more except that he hasn't learned the offense well enough. He runs very well, maybe better than Jones, but you can't count on him to know where to go and how to read adjustments. They also don't think he's a team player and, clearly, he's given them plenty of reason to think that. He's divisive in the locker room.

What the Giants have is a "mess".

What the Bears have is a disgruntled backup who cannot get on the field.

I believe there is a difference.

Well, other than the QB position, people thought the Bears would be nearly unbeatable in Chicago in the playoffs....I still tend to think it will be very tough but the Panthers sure did dismantle them last year in Chicago and the Pats dismantled them too, even HANDLED their dominating DL. The Pats would've won by 20 or more if their guys would not have been careless with the ball.
Well, their QB play doesn't look any better than last year and they are looking beatable.
If you block the Bears DL, you can beat their DBs.
If you stuff their run, the QB will most likely falter.

If Romo and the defense continue their tear, I like our chances.
But let's take care of the midgets first. Only after we do that, can we really even talk about the Bears with any credibility.

Benson is clearly more talented runner than Thomas Jones. But TJ is a far better player. He should shut up and learn from Jones - TJ was in the exact same situation early in his career. High pick, sitting behind a less talented player. Benson is an idiot if he can't see the parallel.

He is a better runner, but not a better running back.

He has to learn there is more to the position than just carrying the ball. Silly things he hasn't bothered to try to improve upon in his second year, like receiving the football and blocking.

Like the others said, Benson isn't even good enough to cause any division in the locker room. He's a total bust and a whiney one at that, and you can bet his teammates already know that and discount anything he says.

we got much better value w/ MBIII

instead of Julius using his brother as a sounding board, Benson should use MBIII as his, although Marion wasn't drafted to be the franchise RB here, he still did what was asked of him behind Julius, became a better all-around RB, and is getting rewarded for it w/ an extended role in the offense, if Benson follows what MBIII is doing, the Bears will start giving him more responsibilities, and will have him actually compete w/ Thomas during the regular season, and take some of his carries away, in a short time, take over the starting RB position in Chicago

Frankly you might notice there's not too much if any dissenion on the Cowboys. You don't hear our players criticizing each other and that's Parcells doing. He wants a hard working team and has drafted quality players who want to win, not knock each other. Besides it's all about the team and like we all know there is no I in team.
