Looks like we have to go 3-0 and it all comes down to Philly

Not to get nit-picky, but Romo overthrew a wide open Owens at the beginning of the game. Otherwise, Philly's morale would have been shot down(especially after going through a terrible season), and we could have been on our way to a big blowout. Instead, we just let them hang around.

Anyhow-back to the topic-if we had a bye going into the playoffs, I would rather play our starters most of the game b/c having a week off can throw off your rhythm, so it would be best to keep them in as much as possible. However-if you have to go into the playoffs the following week, at least some rest in the last week game would be preferred.

I just hope this is an option we have to debate.

No offense to you and your opinion since who knows what would have happened had the bomb worked out, but in regard to "what ifs" in general, I'm really fed up with "ifs" when it comes to this team:

"If" Romo hadn't fumbled the hold against Seattle,
"if" we had just beat the Rams this year,
"if" we had just missed the field goal in Phoenix, we wouldn't have gone into overtime and Romo wouldn't have gotten hurt,
"if" the punt in Pittsburgh hadn't bounced off the back of one of our blockers,
"if" the officials didn't make a bad spot against Pitt,
"if" we stopped them on 4th down,
"if" Romo didn't throw 3 interceptions
"if" we had drafted Stephen Jackson instead of Jones,
"if" we Clayton didn't drop the ball against the Giants last year,
"If" Clayton would hadn't stopped on his route at the end of last years play off game,
"if" we wouldn't have worn out Barber in the first half,
"if" we had just beaten the Giants in last years playoff

I could go on and on and on, at some point this team is what it is and they need to quit making stupid mistakes, pay better attention to details and finally put together a complete game on all sides of the ball and finish strong. If this doesn't happen on a somewhat consistent basis in the games that really matter, then at some point I have to conclude this team isn't as good as everyone makes them out to be.

as always, if "IF" was fifth we'd all be drunk...there won't be any REST at the Linc as long as Philly is in with a shot at the playoffs...

It won't matter anyway because Dallas will be on the road every weekend...that means hostile crowds, weather and defenses...during the 90's run, Dallas always had the first or second seed in the playoffs...not that it mattered last year of course...well maybe the players vacationing did...

The mentality that "good enough is good enough" is one of the reasons this team has gone in the tank in Decembers past...Parcells warned Romo against that type of mindset..."never let good enough be good enough"...a sign that should be plastered all over Valley Ranch this month.

We would all do well to realize that we are now expecting the Cowboys to do with the #5/6 seed that which they could'nt do with the number one a year ago...if Philly wins out and Tampa stays one game ahead, Philly will essentially be a playoff game, the first of four on the road to a superbowl...a seven game winning streak...

I'm not sure they are consistent enough across the board to survive that type of march...maybe they will by the time they play PHI...we'll see.

The Commanders can beat the Eagles if they can hold up some at LT. Their defense will have something to say about that game. Expect a low scoring game. Special teams could decide that game.

Plus, S.F. or the Bengals could give Washington a loss.

Man, when I saw the schedule before the season started, a sense of dread came over me thinking that final game against Philly in their house would be huge. I figured it would be a fight for the division or a playoff spot and it looks like thats what its gonna be, unless we are already out of it.

Tell me the flaw in the following logic:

If we lose one of the next two, the best we can be going into Philly is 9-6 and the best record we can have is 10-6.

If philly wins their next two games (which I fully expect to occur), they will be 9-5-1. The best they can finish is 10-5-1.

So if Philly goes 2-0 over the next two games, then we have to win out because if we win the next two, but lose to Phily, we'll be 10-6 and they'll be 10-5-1.

Hopefully Philly will slip up between now and then because I really don't want that game to be for all the marbles (unless of course I could be certain we'd win and not lose more players in the process).

If Philly loses one of their next two games, we still need to win 2 of 3 and hope we get help from other teams.

If Philly wins out and we spilt the next two, then we must win in Philly and get help from other teams.

This team has got to step up and really can't afford to lose another game until preseason of 09.

They sure haven't done themselves any favors this year.

How sweet would it be if they pulled it off after all the ups and downs of this year?

My two favorite numbers are now 7 and 0

Why would one be concerned with Philly 3 weeks from now when we have the Super Bowl champions on tap this week? I hope the players don't have this "look ahead to Philly in 3 weeks" mentality or we're ****ed.
