Losing Ellis a good thing?

Freak it, CL if we're going to go down, throw the book at them.

I'd rather lose seeing Manning get off a last nanosecond fluke reception with Ware around his neck or Burnett flushing him out then see Payton methodically destroy the secondary and the confidence of players we need to win out this season.

Just play a 2-3-6 , if that's what we're intending. :D

Agreed. I also think they need to let the offense go hog wild. If anything, the Colts D has shown is that it can be scored on, and w/Manning and company I think we need to score early and often.

I believe you are making a good point vs a bad situation (Ellis injury)......I have been crying all year that Zimmer needs to get creatative.

Altho 'reason' would dictate the calmest and most game-managed strategy to Manning's cerebral approach to the game, I think a heavy dose of 'organized mayhem' (as that nutty wrestling impesario used to call it) would be a great way to game plan Indy.

I want controlled but kamikaze blitzing on D, and some blitzkrieg O to go along with the exploitation of Indy's less-than-perfect run defense.

And that's a big factor, indeed, isn't it, in combatting Mannings' no-huddle expertise?

Just one more thing re Manning I saw as a long time AFC fan....his audibling has in the past been used against him effectively..he was once thrown off by Herm Edwards Jets D very well, simply by having the defensive signal callers shouting out nonsense.

I kid you not...the d signals were called and changed so rapidly, Manning frantically countered them, and it was enough to confuse him into bad game, and a loss.

Don't know if such a thing would ever work again, but Fergy was with the Jets then.

He'd remember how Manning was made to look like a chicken with it's head cut off thru sheer trickery. :D

:laugh2:

This reminds me of when I played catcher in baseball...

I would talk to the batter just before the pitch, and would say things like, "Hey, didn't I see your brother driving a go-kart the other day"? or, I would say "Was your sister at the mall this morning"....or "Does your family still live out on 4th Avenue...? "

Things like that...and most batters would kind of take their eye off of the pitch and either miss or not swing at all and we get a strike...

But, I learned to talk at just the right time, just as the pitch was going to come...just enough time to divert their attention away from the ball!!

It was a hoot...and some players actually complained to the umpire that I was chattering too much! :D

But, you are right...there are things that you can do to rattle the opposition...I like to call it "on field sports psychology"...

;)
