LOSING Zimmer is better then GETTING Abraham

I see some in here would like to get DE John Abraham if he is a FA this year. It sounds like a good idea but if Mike Zimmer is still the DC here after this year then adding Abraham would not improve our pass rush or QB pressures at all. Ever since Mike Zimmer has been DC here it has been proven that no matter who we add our pass rush never ever improves and our blitzes never show any improvement either. So adding Abraham would not help any either.

Hopefully the rumors are true that the Rams are interested in Zimmer. Losing Zimmer would be the best thing to happen to our defense. Suddenly outta nowhere our DL would become very dangerous with pass rushing sacks and QB pressures and also tackles for losses. Ware would take off and learn alot more new moves and we would see huge improvement in hiding blitzes and faking blitzes.

I am not in favor of getting Abraham. I would much rather use FA $$$ on offensive line. I KNOW we have alota talent on our defensive line and we just need a REAL DC in here who knows how to use it.

Losing Mike Zimmer would improve our defense more the adding Abraham ever could.

Please Rams do us a big favor and get Zimmer outta Dallas.

I would like to keep Zimm and not get Abraham. We have a lot of rookies, i'd hate for them to have to learn something the first year, then change it up a bit the next year because of a DC change. Plus our defense is not the problem this year, so I've gotten off teh fire Zimm wagon.

I'm just wondering what you have against Zimmer? He's actually done a good job IMO and good DC's aren't easy to find.

He even started a new thread for it. Because his stance on Zimmer is too groundbreaking and thought provoking to be hidden away in the other Abraham thread. Everyone needs to hear this.

Here is how I see it. I would like to see Zimmer gone so that way our young rooks and players will only have a year or 2 of his lame teachings and it will be easier for a REAL DC to undo the damage and teach them the right way.

Just remember our D is doing so good cuz there is such amazing talent on it. Just imagine how much better it will be with a DC who knows what he is doing and who has years and years of running the 3-4.

I've always wondered how people can evaluate Zimmer.

Do we really know what he does vs. what BP does? His calls and schemes vs. BPs

And I think our pass rush has improved -- we averaged 2.0 sacks a game in '03, 2.1 in '04 and are currently at 2.5 a game. When you consider that the league leaders are at 3.5 a game, an increase of a half sack per game is pretty substantial -- especially when you factor in that we are doing that with an entirely new defensive scheme up front and 3 rookies starting on the front 7 (Canty at least for the past 2 games). Are we getting enough sacks -- hell, no. But it isn't the failure some folks are making it out to be.

Why all the hate for Zimmer? Defense hasn't been the problem this year. Sure the D gave up 28 pts to the Chiefs, but we weren't the first ones to give up that many to them. The guy was asked to coordinate a defense he has never coached before and it is one of the strengths of the team this year. A defense that has 2 rookies, 4 new starting linebackers, and a FA safety.

BP has no loyalty to Zimmer, if he didn't like him or the job he is doing, he would have fired him already.

If the Rams are looking at him as a head coach, doesn't that mean that he is doing a good job and that he is getting a reputation around the league as a quality coach?

I could care less if Zimmer goes (or if he stays)- I certainly would NOT give him a raise to keep him. We could hire Dom Capers cause that fool is certainly going to be out on the street come Jan. 1.

So hire who you call a "fool" instead of keeping the D coord who got us #1 D 2 years ago and top 10 right now in a system he had never coached?

Just curious - how are you privy to see Zimmer and his "lame teachings?" Do you attend practice? Coaches meetings? Film study? A hotline straight to The Tuna's office phone perhaps?

I have no desire to lose both Zimmer and Gary Gibbs, our linebacker couch, who is interviewing at Texas A&M.. Tool much disruption on a very good defense.

Abraham isnt worth the money he is asking for. Plus the fact that we have some nice young ends progressing. Not sure why we would want him when we have some other holes to be filled...

Wolverine.. you have provided absolutely NO SUBSTANCE to your claims. How about stating the techniques that are being done wrong before you call someone an idiot. Any sports idiot can sit here and claim the coach is an idiot.. why don't you show you actually know what you're talking about and reply with some football knowledge.
