I post here pretty often and check things out almost daily so just wanted to get out there that I lost one of my best friends and my football viewing buddy today at the age of 37. He broke his ankle a week ago going down the stairs to do laundry in the basement and had a hard time getting to be seen by an orthopedic for a couple of days due to his insurance and finally went to the emergency room. They scheduled him for surgery thursday and I was going to visit him on friday and his aunt/guardian called me and told me he was induced into a coma and from there they said a blood clot traveled to his heart and he was out for about 15 min and his brain wasn't receiving enough oxygen and he had severe damage. His kidneys started failing and they took him off his support saturday evening and he passed shortly after. He was a big Giants fan (we live in NJ) but never an annoyance. Great person, father of his 13 year old son and a great friend. The Best. I never had to deal with anything this hard in my entire life and that is ditto for my wife because he was always around. Our hearts are broken and sorry I just needed to get this out of me. Biggest loss in our lives.
Terribly sorry for your loss. This makes me think even harder to continue treating my two best friends the best I can. For no one knows when someone's life will be up. Thank you for sharing!

I forgot to mention that he is the worlds greatest father I have ever met in my life and that is saying a lot. You see there is honestly no greater person I have met in my entire life than my father in law. I swear I think the man can walk on water. The only reason he doesn't get into heaven is if Jesus is too scared that he would take over. He's the best but as far a a father goes I give it to my friend and here is why. My friends father was a no good piece of ****. He abandoned him and his younger brother when he was extremely young probably around 5 or so and his brother was just a baby. His mother I think passed away right around that time when he needed his father more than anyone. His aunt and uncle the amazing people they are took him and his brother in without hesitation. Some time ago my friends brother got a visit from his father looking for guess what.....$. Yes money. Can you believe that. Once the uncle found out he quickly drove through the streets of Paterson looking for and finally finding his brother and he told him if he ever comes around again he will personally break both of his legs. They lived with them their whole lives besides a couple years when my friend lives with his sons mother and him until they split. He would do anything and everything and provide as much as he could financially for His son and was always good to his son giving him the best life that my friend possibly could. His son is an amazing young boy and an absolute pleasure to be around. I am so proud of my friend and he is a role model to me.

My heart felt condolence goes out to you and your family. It's a reminder of how fragile we all truly are and to never take our health for granted. I'm a combat vet and as such, lost a few good friends in that capacity. One particular friend was a medic that died in my arms as I assured him everything was going to be okay. I'll never shake that experience from my memory and as traumatic as it was and still is, I don't want to shake it. It's a constant reminder to live each day with purpose.

I'm sorry for your loss, Ranch. Terrible, heartbreaking, it just sucks and there's really no other to say it. My thoughts go out to you and to his family, and to him.
