This was my baby girl. Casey with Aries sleeping next to her. One of the best dogs I have ever been blessed with. She was such a loving dog, I can't believe she's no longer with us.

Sorry to hear about Casey. She was a beautiful girl.

Congrats on the pups. I'm jealous. I want a boxer but don't need the extra expense right now.

Sorry to hear about that. I grew up with a Boxer named Casey. Best purebred dogs in the world IMO. I'm sure the new additions will bring you as much joy as the Casey did.

Losing that kind of dog is losing a member of the family.

Your pictures are great. Very nice looking set of animals.

Sorry for your loss. This may be painful to answer for you but let me ask. How are boxers as dogs? I think theyre 4-5 on the AKC list as best dogs to own, do they deserve that ranking? And a boxer won that greatest dog in America reality show last year.

Reason Im asking is I lost my German Shepard in 2007 to bloat. And havent had a dog since, I was thinking on getting a boxer. They good with kids? They good watchdogs? Hows their temperament?

They are fantastic family dogs and love kids. I don't know about being a guard dog but they are very alert and will let you know if someone is around. They probably wouldn't attack other than licking them to death.

Sorry to hear about your shep. I'd love to have one of those also.

I had to put my boxer/pit down a little over a year ago and it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I still miss him.

Great dogs, great temperament, good with families.

Very Lovable and playful dogs. Now for a watchdog they are alert but as Yeager said...they are not going to be mean towards strangers.

Also of note, although they are great with kids, they are very playful and rambunctious....so if you have little little kids, the just got to make sure they don't knock the kids over while playing and running around, because they can bowl you over when they play.

Boxers are a great breed, one of the best dogs that can join your family. They do become part of your family. They communicate with you, thier eyes will touch your heart. They are very playful, full of energy. Like most dogs, the female is a little more settled down than the male. As you can tell, I love the breed.

As far as guard dogs, death by licking. Although Casey would watch if someone new came into our home. If she didn't trust the individual, she would block my wife. Placing her body across my wives while she watched the person. They are very alert.

I've known dobs, sheps, mastiff's, Pits and Rots that would do nothing but lick you to death. You should see my sons Pit, he's afraid of little dogs. My point being, it is how you treat and train your dog.

Boxers were breed to bring down bear and bulls. They are a very powerful breed. Unfortunately, people are introducing the breed to fighting. Some are mix breeding them with the pit. Boxers are also 9 on the list of most dangerous breeds. So, you can teach them to protect.

Honestly, if you do choose a Boxer you'll find nothing but joy. They will give more to you than you can ever give back to them. They will talk to you, there facial expressions will melt you. They'll be your childrens best friend. They'll be apart of you and your family.

We had rescued Casey, the poor thing. It took alot of work, in the end she was a very happy loving dog. She left a loving home.

I agree 100% with everything here.

As far as guard dogs, they can be trained to "act" aggressive towards intruders...but even then, if it came down to real aggression towards humans, its usually not really in their nature. I had a friend that used a 135lb Boxer for protection....although it didn't really need to do much. It was so damn big it scared the crap out of everyone.

Best purebred dog IMO.

Yeah, he's been doing it since he was a wee little pup. He'll carry it around once in awhile. My wife is going to take it away from him, she's afraid he's gonna need a dentist.
