Lost Stat from the Win

The 60s schedules were 12 games. Dallas first year they went 0-11-1.

1961 the number of games went from 12 to 14 games. The Cowboys record was 4-9-1.

Landry 1960-1989.......29 years
Everybody else 1989-2017....28 years

As you see we are almost even on the wins. Difference is Landry by himself compared to multiple head coaches

And Landry started with nothing......
Just league cast off's the first year.

I think the Bears first win came against the Hittites the same year the Mesopotamians won the Pangaean South.

Also Tom Landry 20-16 in the post season....all others 14-12, Jimmy was 7-1 of that. Barry 5-2 from Jimmy's players mainly.
So 2-9 since Barry. Now I am depressed...

2-9 since Barry, not only the ratio is bad, the 2+9 = 11 is also bad.

Most of Landry's years weren't 16 game seasons in the NFL

Just think how much faster it would have come if it were not for the last two decades of mediocrity.

Needless to say, the departure of Jimmy Johnson was a decision that Jerry was ill prepared for as a GM. His on-the-job training turned out to be a seemingly endless procedure in the aftermath of that decision. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Will McClay stays put as our acting GM, minus the appropriate label that normally accompanies his duties. Those two decades were definitely frustrating times, to say the least.

Barry Switzer: 1 Super Bowl win in 4 years and the highest winning percentage of any Cowboys coach.

Pretty sure I'd still take Landry.

The same Landry that coached during his early and creative years was outstanding.

However, the last years of his stubborn stagnation sure weren't nearly as rewarding.

By and large, it's obvious to say that he was truly a blessing to the Dallas franchise.
