Like watching how intelligent #Cowboys TE Jason Witten is at attacking DB leverage and using his hands to clear the jam/reroute to get open.
The guy has been doing it for years, defenders know what his go-to routes are, and still struggle to stop him. True pro. #Respect

Witten is a Hall of Famer Gronkowski wouldn't ever be remembered if they both never played again that's all I'm saying. Doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with the most complete and best all around TE in NFL history.

Witten gets open the same way Jerry Rice got open non stop without elite speed. By being a precise route runner. It's an incredibly underappreciated skill in today's game, because a lot of wideouts and tight ends can just get open using elite athleticism. If you watch Witten, you'll see a guy who has a phenomenal ability to not give away which way he's going to cut and makes quick breaks in his routes. Not to mention he's incredibly football smart so when he sees a zone he knows right where to settle in to be open for a completion.

I dispute that. Novacek was a decathlete and a great athlete in college. He may not have been a burner but he was not slow.

Novacek wasn't that slow.

Do you remember the play where he hurdled over the defender? Can't remember the game or the team, but I do clearly remember he did that.

I don't think there is any alternate dimension that you would see Witten doing something like that.

Novacek was a very good athlete in his day. His back betrayed him in the end or else he could have had similar numbers to what Witten has now.

Witten gets from A to B quickly. He's not fast nor does he have quicks. Look at his combine numbers. He doesn't waste motion or steps ie economy of motion.

Novacek clumsy?? He did have a funny running style, but you are talking about the guy that held the NCAA record for points in the decathlon. The guy was a superior athlete.
