Louis Riddick (ESPN Insiders) is the former head of pro personnel for the Commanders and eagles. Here are his thoughts on twitter while watching the Giants-Cowboys game live:

"About time they start moving Dez around and scheming him open!!"
"I bet Jason is making these calls...."
"Great route design on the pass to Miles. Attacked all three levels of the defense within inside breaking routes. Jason Garrett!"
"No doubt in my mind who his calling these plays..."

You really get a sense of what he thinks of Callahan as OC, haha.

Wouldn't surprise me if he threw a few adjustments here and there through the game.

Maybe Garrett is finding some balance. He's got a couple of guys giving him constant birds eye view feedback on what is going on, and Garrett is using their trusted information to make a better and more informed decision than before, and also using the extra seconds that they spend on analysis coaching on the sideline.

I think it goes something like this:

Garrett: Bill I'm thinking play XYZ might work here
Bill: Jason, XYZ on 3
Jason: Tony, XYZ on 3

mean while...TD to Witten

Jason: Great call Bill

Louis Riddick doesn't know what he is talking about. Jerry is the one calling the plays from his suite.

You don;t have it quite right. Before the play starts Jerry cuts off Callahan's mike.

Jerry: Jason, Yes Jerry 42 Iso X Flash
Jason: Ok Jerry, Tony, 42 Iso X Flash

TD Dallas

Jerry: Good call Jason!!!!!1`

Ha. At first I thought "Yes Jerry" was part of the play call, and it made perfect sense.

Who cares who calls them? I care more about why does it take three guys to do one job!

Ughhh... What ever happen to JG playbook needs to go ? Same plays different calls ???

I'm not saying he isn't but the reasonong behind is thought process is just dumb. Callahan was calling plays from jg playbook which never schemed wr to be open. If they are running different plays that's because they are changing the playbook a bit. Dez has never lined up in the slot as much as he did Sunday. I guess it just jg 7 years to figure out what everyone else already knew. His offense was boring with no creativity. Hopefully he will stick with it.

Callahan is decisively worse. I've come to the conclusion (begrudgingly) that his only success with the Raiders was a result of simply not steering Gruden's offense into the ditch. At least not until the second year, anyway. Come to think of it, the guy has been pretty mediocre everywhere he's been without Gruden calling the shots.

I don't think it's as simple as he is calling the plays now because of the way they moved Dez around. I think they ALL talked it over and made adjustments during the bye but I think he reserves the right to change the calls. The best part is now people are wondering who is calling them instead of having it blasted across every newspaper and blog on the internet.

It's impossible to get a read on this offense, it is comprised almost completely of wild-cards and variables. Once you throw in the varying levels of defensive competition, all that's left is a big pile of "I-don't-know-what-the-frig-is-going-on". Was Red's play-calling oversight the difference maker or was it weak opposition? Why was Romo so inaccurate the previous few weeks? It seems to me that the offense isn't strong enough to impose its will on anybody, so they're reduced to playing a game of cat and mouse and if they're playing another second-tier team they have a chance.
