I have nothing aginst Gruden but for goodness sake the man was 57 and 55 at Tampa Bay.

In his defense Tampa ownership was significantly under the cap every year, I believe to the tune of $40M last year. They just wouldn't spend money on players, which is why he was collecting 2nd tier QBs. Not many coaches would be able to go in there and be successful consistently, without getting real lucky on some personnel picks.

Its no accident he is getting linked to names like Danny and Jerry this year - guys who will go out and spend.

And he does have the advantage that he has already proven he can work with an egotistical meddling owner....

I seriously doubt any coach worth having would work for Jerry Jones under the conditions he imposes. Jerry wants puppets he can control not real men with leadership qualities that bring success and overshadow Jerry's perception of his own greatness.

Yeah, but this kind of thinking is sort of moot now because he hired Parcells and had him here for 4yrs.

He hired Wade after a very thorough interview process and his logic at the time was sound, he picked him because he had NFL experience and because he was highly regarded as a defensive coach who had mastered the 3-4 scheme.

Sometimes moves work out, sometimes they dont. History is littered with people everyone thought were sure things, that didnt work out at all. History is also littered with guys who werent so highly regarded who went on to becomes solid NFL coaches.

I have no problem at all with people criticizing Jerry over hiring Switzer, Gailey and Campo. They were all terrible hires made for all the wrong reasons. Nobody would have hired any of those 3 as a HC in this league. But since then I dont see how anyone can complain about his decision making when it came to coaches. Again, I am not saying Wade is great, but I am saying his THOUGHT PROCESS on why he hired Wade was sound.

See around here they call that an excuse something Dallas is never given. I don't hate Gruden or think he is a bad coach but he is not some god send and given the mentality of our fans if he can't win right off the bat we will be having these discussion about firing him as we saw with BP and now with Wade.

Heh true.

Not sure he's my first choice, but I do think he's better than a .500 coach if given support and he has won a SB, whether it was his team or not. Might have been in another one with the Raiders too without a Brady Ref Special.

And he wanted Favre bad last year, and ownership would not give up enough for him. Favre and Gruden probably would have been really successful together. I think ownership wanted to get rid of Gruden and clean house. Now they are getting what they deserve. One of the worst teams in football and probably the biggest idiot they could have hired to coach them (Morris).

Also, as far as Gruden and Notre Dame goes, they contacted Gruden before they hired Weis, not recently. Contrary to unsubstantiated reports, Notre Dame has not plans on gettting rid of Charlie. He has the number 25 ranked team in the nation, is 5-1 (due in large part to a really bad call at the end of the game against Michigan) and has a good chance of beating USC tomorrow in South Bend led by the highest rated college QB in the nation.

Maybe so but then our current coach is well beyond a 500 coach. Wade as a HC has 70 wins and 40 losses and with Dallas he is 22 and 10

I think Gruden will go to the college ranks and coach Notre Dame.

I really can't imagine Gruden's attitude and colorful language working at Notre Dame. I have to hand it to him, though. Before I heard him on MNF, I didn't think he could string together more than three or four words without cursing.

Holmgren is the likely choice, imo...17 years 161 wins 111 losses 0 ties .592 winning %. 3 SB appearances and should have had at least 2 wins. The refs took the last one away from him.

Gruden is a lot better coach than some are giving him credit for. He single handedly resurrected the Raiders when they were in the same situation they currently find themselves in.

I know he's dying to coach again (in the NFL), but he really is a good fit in the MNF booth. I really enjoy listening to him, and want him to stay.

Not that sold on Holmgren, but from a QB management perspective, I think he could do wonders for Romo. I also think that there's no way he could work with Jerrah.

Gruden aint going to Louisville. Not exactly a plum job for a guy with a Super Bowl win on his resume.

Just say no to Chuckie. keep wade as DC and go after Cowher or promote Red.

I'd rather not keep Wade around at all. Give me a Dick LeBeau protege for DC.

I want Cowher and if I can't have Cowher, then I want Fox when they let him go and hire Cowher.

With the exception of most of your posts, I normally agree with you :D , but I would really like them to consider Russ Grimm if they show old Wade the door.
