Love it or hate it... the McNabb effect on the draft

im not worried about okung for about three years i think ware will handle him

I pray to the lord that Berry isn't the selection. I actually am. Its no coincidence that he's the best safety prospect since Sean Taylor. RIP.

I don't think the the Rams, Lions and Bucs will take him either way. Some other team will have to leap frog the Skins.

Edit- The Lions may take him, but then they'd be passing on Mccoy and Suh.

i think the lions will take him to be honest. they've added at DT which i doubt they would have if they were going to take mccoy or suh and need to get some protection for stafford. in saying that okung would make sense and it is the lions so i could well be wrong.

need to follow the " WWAGD " ( what would Alex Gibbs do ? ) when it comes to the Deadskins and their drafting O-linemen.

Remember that the WCO, at least the Shannahan version, require their O-linemen to be more athletic than the typical NFL O-lineman and they need to recoup the 2 picks they just gave up. I wouldn't put it past them moving down, perhaps playing Cleveland and Seattle against each other, for Claussen, or even moving out of the top 10 completely.

The 49ers would love to get their hands on JPP ( Jason Pierre-Paul ) and he shouldn't be available after the top 8 or so.

i think the lions take okung. and i think the Commanders will take the next best option at ot or try and trade down and pick up more picks.

maybe bulaga (sp?) or t williams.

i'm wondering the odds of us landing ducasse, for example, in round 2? i think guys like saffold, etc will all be gone by then. feels like there is going to be a run on the top ol in the top 40-50 picks.

i've seen mocks where j jerry also goes end of round 2. not sure he makes it to our pick in round 3.

What really bothers me is that it seems that all of our division opponents have similar needs:

Offensive linemen and safety.

So when each one fills that need, they're not only helping their cause, but hurting the Cowboys.

That would be what I would do, but it would be awfully hard to pass on Okung, who could be very special. Their best hope is that someone really really wants Clausen. But I don't think it will be Cleveland or Seattle. Holmgren has stated that he is not in love with Clausen and Seattle already committed to Whitehurst. Their best shot might be Buffalo or Oakland moving up but I cannot think of who they would want to leapfrog.

No matter how you feel about the McNabb trade........

I can say with certain confidence now that the Commanders have traded for McNabb that their pick will be Okung if available.

The down side and sure to make some people upset is that if Okung is off the board, the Skins are VERY high on Berry. I know there are many here including myself that will be praying the top 3 teams all pass on Okung.

either Okung or Baluga, that's for sure.

Cowboys will grab Earl Thomas and get Gaither via trade during the draft.

Skins gave up the 3rd most sacks last year I would think they will put some focus on their OL. They do have the 4th pick but I could see the skins being the 1st trade in the draft to get extra picks and possibly an extra 1st for next season in the process.

There should really be a drinking game associated with how many times Gaither's name is mentioned on this board.

If they invent one I am buying stock in all alcohol related products.

I wouldn't totaly rule out QB for the Skins. McNabb isn't going to be much more of a stop-gap for them...they still need someone to groom.

I think the Skins take Okung at #4.

I'll be curious to see how far Clausen falls. I just saw a mock (one that is generally pretty decent) that has him falling out the 1st round. I say no chance to that happening, but this could get interesting.

I could see them taking a QB in Round 4 maybe....if one they likes falls further than expected. fat chance though, b/c the QB crop is already thin.

I would be shocked to see a safety go that high especially since there is no rookie cap. And for the Skins to invest another high first rounder in a safety would begin to approach Detroit Lions like infatuation with WRs.
