Wearing poppies are not an American tradition. It is really a British and Canadian tradition to remember our war heroes.

I thought it was a classy thing for the Cowboys to wear poppies and put them on the jerseys to commemorate Remembrence (Veterans) Day. Very nice touch and something I didn't expect.

Agree. Britain First has been promoting this via FB, but I had no idea it would be a part of the NFL Intl. celebration. Well done.

Both teams wore them, and they didn't have a choice. But they were in England, and it was appropriate.

I still think they should thank us ad nauseum for saving them from Hitler.

The 2 countries who lead the fight for freedom thru all the wars. God bless both the US and the UK. Oh ya, and Hendrix became a star in England before America. That's cool in itself.

Is that what those weird things were on the uniforms? My wife asked but I didn't know.

Only odd thing I found was that the Jag's poppy was patched on their right shoulder, but it should be over the left heart (which is closer to what the Cowboys had).

Wow.

I've been to the US loads of times and love the place. I also love the special relationship our two nations have so I'm disappointed to read this.

This is a very ill informed and disrespectful post in my opinion. This year marks the one hundred year anniversary of the start of the World Wor I and means a lot to The British.

Many up here wear poppies too. It is a Commonwealth thing. It is from the McRae poem

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Don't sweat it, not a particularly well thought out position. I was in Flanders earlier this year visiting some of the battlefields. Sounding of last post @ Menin gate where they have done so for the past 100 years, every night, was pretty poignant. My grandfather remembered walking around the block to discover that his childhood friend's house had been erased by a Zeppelin bombing raid in Croydon. Crazy.

Oh, I didn't mean to be disrespectful about the poppy's meaning. I thought that was pretty cool. However, I do tire of the angst and disrespect America receives from across the pond at times, especially from those southeast of England. We saved their tookuseseseses.

But I have no problem with this at all. In fact, I wish more was said about World War I, which is one of the least known-about wars in history.

The Brits were fighting the ****'s long before the US even entered the war. We should thanx them just as much for that.

The Brits were LOSING to the ****'s long before we showed up. They wouldn't listen to Churchill, and it dang near cost them their country.

Least known about? WWI wasn't fought during the Dark Ages.
