I mean knowledge among the general population. Just consider how many movies you see about World War II compared to World War I, the Civil War, or Vietnam. You just hear so little about it.

Russia never gets the respect she clearly deserves from the West for her vital and costly contributions during WW2.

Oh, I didn't mean to be disrespectful about the poppy's meaning. I thought that was pretty cool. However, I do tire of the angst and disrespect America receives from across the pond at times, especially from those southeast of England. We saved their tookuseseseses.

But I have no problem with this at all. In fact, I wish more was said about World War I, which is one of the least known-about wars in history.

that is true but mostly only because WWII trumped it, one could argue that 1919-1939 was just one long armistice between the same war

and face it, WWI is boring, how many movies can you make about how the trenches were disgusting rat infested and that the only thing worse than the trench was leaving it to get machined gunned

People also forget the United States was the sole country in possession atomic warheads at the time. The United States was not going to "speak" German anytime soon, half of Europe would be

Did we help? Yes. Did USA win the war and steal all of the other country's girlfriends in the process like our name was Rad McCool? No. I mean, we showed up late to the party like that guy probably does.

Hell we really couldn't have defended ourselves without Canada's naval aid.

But probably more importantly, The war in Russia was four times the size of the entire western front. They were the ones that really wrecked he **** party (in addition to a lot of **** military faux pas).

It was a team effort and we really weren't the star quarterback that Hollywood and Cold War era textbooks made us out to be.
