Yeah, I know he might not be your first choice but....he and Marinelli have worked together before and worked well. Fix the D' and try to hire a sound O.Coordinator and go from there.

.....believe me I know we won't win it all with him ever again(look at my avatar)..but respectability and a sound defense would be a solid first step and Lovie would bring that IMO

Why not? I'm all for it.

Bring in Lovie. Fire Kiffen and Garret. Bring in a good offensive coordinator and see what happens. Something needs to change if we don't turn this thing around this year.

Before the season started we were pretty excited about our defense. Yes there would be a learning curve we knew that. Does the D need fixed? Seriously, we have a make shift full of UDFA DL's, Lee's out, Mo is out, Wilcox is out...I could go on but you get the point. Until we see them at full strength we really don't know what we have.

i think we're 3-4 drafts from being able to fix this mess with any HC anyhow

We are in bad shape at multiple positions. It does not help that we are in cap h*ll either.

A good team has 3 things. A solid offensive line. A solid defensive line. A good quarterback.

You get those 3 things and i don't care who else is playing at the other positions. You will have a solid football team.

I dont believe its that far off. If you have a good system in place with solid competent coaches, They can turn it around with in a couple of season. Hard choices, real hard choices, (not just getting rid of coordinators) will have to be made. Like moving on from a lot of players and eating a lot of cash because of all those terrible contract in recent years.

If you were excited then you simply werent paying attention to what grandpa brings to the table.

I know I was megaexcited to screw around the position of our best players, shoe horn a massive investment at cover corner into a zone scheme, and that massive blackhole at safety (possibly the most important position) just screamed SUCCESS.

The challenge with Lovie Smith is that he had years to find a quality offensive coordinator and failed.

I am not sure if that is a great idea.

Smith coaches the SAME defense. Maybe we are better off with a 3-4. Less linemen. It's better to play the scheme of your talent than vice versa.

Jerry will NOT pay big money for a head coach.

If Garrett is fired, the next guy is likely Mike Zimmer.

you will not be able to get my to stop vomiting. Zimmer is a DC professional, not HC anything.
