Lots and lots of great players don't win a Super Bowl.
But Romo and Witten have both been victimized by Jerry and his drunken ways.
Not agreeing on the drunken ways, but I do believe if Parcells had stayed as coach, we would have at least gotten to a NFC Championship.
I think the biggest mistake the Cowboys made was making the team a Romo-friendly team. I think had we remained in the style of offensive play that Parcells coached, it would have served us better in the long run.
Granted, Parcells was getting older and I don't know how much he had left (he really didn't have much left), but I liked his style of play, the methodical, grinding, don't-make-mistakes-wear-them-down mentality of playing the game.
I've said from the beginning Tony Romo needed to be shielded with a running game. Not that he wasn't/isn't a very good quarterback. But he was too much like Brett Favre, who only won ONE Super Bowl but cost the Packers several more with his propensity for boneheaded plays.
I hope we don't take the same approach with Dak. I think he'll be a very good quarterback too, but don't put everything on his shoulders. There aren't but a few Tom Bradys. Everyone else needs a running game.
We have everything in place on offense. We need a pass rush and a coaching staff who knows how to prepare the team and call the right plays down the playoff stretch.
