Machota: No more competition at LT

He's about to get a Terrance Steele deal soon
Nah, not yet.

He’s signed next season on a cheap $3.5m deal. The team couldn’t replace him at that price if they wanted to.

After that he goes into his fifth year option. That year is pricey. Likely $20m

Guyton has been the LT. BS is giving standard coach BS. Need the back up players competing for roster spots and the swing tackle spot. So give them a bone saying it is still open.

Just most spots on the defense. They will claim open competition. In the case of Dallas, that would probably be true.

Very few positions everyone knows the coaches of all teams can’t bs about.
Like the starting QB.

With all the adversity he’s faced and Jerry screwing up taking him too early, if he pans out, he may become one of my favorite players. I love underdogs and he most definitely was despite his draft position.

Hopefully our 4th rounder (whom name escapes me) can develop some functional strength and become our swing tackle. Thomas may be able to kick inside.

I don't read anymore into this than when Thomas played LT for a stretch last season, the warts were apparent. I also don't read anymore into it than that hasn't changed in camp. Broaddus said Shelton is having his struggles at LT as expected. So by default and draft position Guyton has the job.
