Maclin getting $11 per

1,318 and 10 tds last year with foles/sanchez

Dez Bryant
1,320 and 16 tds last year with Tony Romo (and Brandon Weeden)

Dez should settle for 13-13.5 million and call it a day.

This is where I think everybody gets confused. It's NOT the per year average that halts these deals - it's the GUARANTEED MONEY that does. I'm betting Dez could care less if the yearly average is what you just stated. But, if Mike Wallace can command almost $30M in guarantees, isn't Dez worth more based on his play and where people view him in the WR hierarchy? I think so.

Cobb only got 17 million guaranteed.

And no it isn't just about the guaranteed money. That is a factor, because it generally determines how much of your contract you'll get for sure, but the average still makes a huge difference.

No! not a dime more than 25mil guaranteed and a claw-back provision if he misbehaves.

The guaranteed money is big importance...the Perception of how big the rest of the contract is, is important as well...even if the rest of the contract is not as big as it appears.

If that makes sense.

Yes Dez is worth more than Wallace. Because Miami made that insane deal with Wallace doesn't mean the Cowboys should follow down the same path with Dez.

But Mike Wallace's contract is considered to be a bad one in hind site, by pretty much eveyrone...including the Dolphins'.

The current comps are the ones to go by. They certainly don't hurt Dez. Without seeing the current offer, I'm not sure they help him either.
I doubt these contracts are much of a surprise.

Call me crazy but I just don't see the hype around Maclin.

Good player.....yes
$11M per year good......No

After reading some of these contract signings, I am leaning towards the Cowboys letting Dez play on the tag this season. Then they are paying somewhere around these new averages while buying themselves some time to see if he continues to behave. But that is just my theory.
