There is some stuff in the game with ratings...across all titles pretty much...that just makes absolutely 0 sense.

They don't weigh the same and the game takes that into account. An acc rating of 80 for a lineman does not translate, in game, to being the same as an acc rating of 80 for a db.

In theory, anyway.

By the way, if you have EA Access on XB1, you can access the 10 hour trial of the full game now.

Will try hard not to buy.

I play this game for about a month, then Fifa comes out, and this game collects dust all year.

Madden and Fifa make up 90% of my play time. The other 10% is the occasional urge to play Dark Souls 2.

So I've been playing the early access on XB1. In general, the game is no better or worse than last years, it's just "different", and the physics feel a little less responsive. Essentially, it's the same game with a few extras thrown in (deciding what type of catch you want to achieve, etc...).

I really thought Madden had turned a corner last season even with the continued reliance on preset animations but this doesn't surprise me. I know it's not technically a monopoly due to the NFL being the org. selling exclusivity for player names, likeness, etc. but doesn't this go against open and legitimately fair competition? Seems like if more (important) people cared, that this matter would have been altered as no other pro league has been able to secure this monopoly exclusivity angle as seen with EA/Madden/NFL.

When I play NBA2K I'm slightly saddened that an NFL equivalent is almost a decade behind in comparison.

Only thing I saw that bugged me watching videos today is randle and McFadden are both faster than murray but not even close in the game. Randle and McFadden are slow as hell in the game

Still trying to figure out how Dez is only an 88 speed.

It seems they overhauled a lot of the speed ratings, finally.
I was tired of seeing just about every corner and receiver with a 90+ speed rating.

Murray is a 79 IIRC.

I have taken two 50+ yard YAC TDs with Dez on All Madden. 88 isn't that slow anymore.

Wow, this is a phenomenal game.

I don't have much time for these games anymore like the good ole days, and even though I always buy Madden, it usually is collecting dust pretty quick. Again, not much time for this anymore, and there are better games like Fifa or The Show when I do squeeze an hour to play.

Madden always seems like the same game, and I get bored quickly.

Not this one though. TOTALLY different feel. Different look, mechanics, physics, atmosphere, and everything. Very organic.

Now, if only I didn't suck at it.

I've played about 4 games so far myself and can't say I agree. Graphics are slightly better, physics are the same (preset animations/look at players flopping over each other after plays--not physics based), atmosphere is same outside of some added commentary from Phil Simms relating to performance from the prior week "He threw 2 picks last week", etc.

The one thing I do like is the improvement on passing trajectory with the high/low pass but seems they took away the skill of controlling your receiver after the pass as it is centered on you holding down buttons for the corresponding catches. I still take control of the receiver but notice I don't really have to anymore outside of coming back for curls more aggressively when I realize a corner is sitting on the route, etc. I shared your same optimism last year bc they did make a good jump to next gen. but as usually the case with Madden, piecemeal improvements with updated rosters. Games sorely needs a new engine as Pessimist said above.

We have a sweet ace DL though:D. Put Hardy in as DT alongside Crawford with Gregory/Lawrence manning the ends.

Man, that's wrong, I think. The player models were completely re-done, the lighting and atmosphere has been improved dramatically, and while there is a little bit of flopping, the gang tackling is light years better than before. You have completely organic tackles that are not repetitive at all. The sack issues are completely fixed, and the passing game is fantastic with the new mechanics. My favorite part is the run game, which extremely physical and better than last year even.

Not perfect, but a dramatic improvement.

Lol I feel ya. I lose like 80% of my online games. Hoping madden will be here from gamefly today so I can check it out.

The player models do look good when zoomed in admittedly and the lighting aspect I will have to kind have to look out for going forward. When you say atmosphere, are you talking about the crowd noise, pre game/half time, or commentary? Not saying you don't have a point there, just haven't noticed anything drastic in the few games I've played so far in terms of atmosphere but also haven't played any playoff games yet either, etc.

Suction blocking is what irks me while on D and animations for coverage that aren't physically possible as there is no read and reaction ( I know it's a video game:D). Was a big 2K fanboy so that's where most of the pettiness comes from on my part. But just playing a NBA 2k game in comparison can show the drastic difference in how each sport game has progressed over the last decade. For the most popular sport in the US, we seem to get the worst of sports gaming due to the NFLPA restriction.

The suction blocking isn't there from what I've seen. Now, keep in mind, in the NFL it's tough to get off a block, so there's a bit of realism to that, but I'm able to get off blocks if I use a finesse move and change direction.

What I especially like is that there's finally a big difference in players based on ratings, especially if you turn the difference meter to 0.
