At one time, John Madden and Al Michaels were among the best at what they do, in my opinion at least. I'm not convinced of that anymore. Last night, their slippage was even more apparent.
Michaels: "Of course, we're here in Seattle in the Great Pacific Northwest ... north of San Francisco."
Madden: "They've got a lot of fish up here."
Michaels: "So does San Francisco, home of the 49ers."
Madden: "Mike Holmgren is one of the top five coaches in the league."
Michaels: "He used to be an assistant coach at San Francisco."
Madden: "Yep, he also used to coach Brett Favre (heart flutters). Ol' Brett ... heh heh. He loves to play the game. Heh heh."
Michaels: "So does Jerry Rice. Of course it was here on this field last year that Dallas escaped with a controversial win over Rice and the Seahawks. The touchdown to Keyshawn Johnson was dubious to say the least."
Madden: "Yep ... there was a question about Keyshawn getting his feet down. He has good feet, that guy. He probably uses tough-actin Tinactin to combat athlete's foot."
Michaels: "Rice has good feet, too. He's in Denver now .... after beginning his career with the San Francisco 49ers. He had a rather dubious stay in Oakland, too."
Madden: "Did you see Larry Allen on that play? When Larry Allen blocks someone, he blocks 'em. He's got the stuff going there ... ya know when ya get all that stuff going, it's hard to stop. He bench-presses 700 pounds."
Michaels: "Larry Allen was a rookie the year the Cowboys lost to the 49ers in the NFC Championship game. There were no dubious calls in that game."
Madden: "700 pounds ... that's more than three Brett Favres."
Michaels: "A collision with Allen could cause an earthquake. Of course, we have those in San Francisco ... I remember the 1989 World Series when we were interrupted by an earthquake in San Francisco."
Madden: "Yep, Ol' Larry Allen could put away some fish, I bet. Although he looks more like a steak and potatoes guy to me. Another big guy who knows how to sweat and has the stuff going is Rob Pettiti."
Michaels: "Right tackle is a dubious position for the Cowboys. If Petitti doesn't work out, they may bring in former San Francisco 49er Scott Gragg."
Madden: "Yep, ol' Scott Gragg is another big guy who likes to eat. He's from Montana."
Michaels: "Speaking of Montana, former 49er Joe Montana is doing well these days."
